*Chapter 4: The Confession*
My BFF Lida and I finished shopping. While going home, she noticed that I was restless and kept looking everywhere as if I was looking for something.
"What's happening to you? Are you waiting for someone?" Lida asked.
"Ahh nothing, I'm just looking at something, don't mind it," I answered my friend.
But why is he not here? I secretly asked in my mind. Where is Vince? His umbrella is no longer on the bench.
"My gosh Angel, I have so many stories to tell you about my vacation," said Loida.
"I'm excited, what is it," I replied to her.
When we got to the unit, I started preparing what to cook.
"Do you remember what I told you about my first love?" Lida asked while I was chopping onions.
"Of course, what you told me before that he left you because he said he didn't like you and so you could still do your dreams," I replied to Loida.
"Yes, that's it, so my Mom and Dad sent me home to meet the man I'm going to marry. I arranged marriage and I didn't expect that he would be the man my parents arranged," Lida continued.
"Really? How did that happen? Wow, what a plot twist . . ." I said in shock.
"That's why I didn't even expect that we would meet again, but you know, when we met, best I don't have the old feelings for him anymore. So I asked my Mom and Dad if I would come back here. I said I needed to go back to the city and have something important to do, but that's just my best excuse," my best friend said again.
"Oh, that's difficult, but that's the right decision because it's hard when you're already married and that's when you think that you shouldn't have agreed to what your parents want. It's good that you came back here so you can think carefully, especially now that you don't have feelings for him anymore," I said to my friend.
"At least you understand me," Loida said again.
"But wait, friend, I want to know why you were smiling like that earlier??" Lida added, now looking seriously.
And here it is. I don't know if I should say it, friend, am I okay? Huh??
"What kind of question is that?" Loida said in shock, "What do you mean, are you okay? I don't know what's really happening??"
"Because friend, I feel confused. This is the first time I have felt this, but I don't want to keep it to myself and I want to remove it, but I think I'm getting butterflies from the man sleeping there on the chair in our street," I said softly.
"What??" Lida shouted in shock.
"Hey girl, are you okay?" It seems not. Are you eating on time?? Are you getting rest?? Do you want me to sleep here for now so I can be with you? Maybe you have a problem? That's why you're thinking that," Loida said.
"BFF, you're so exaggerated, huh?? Yes, I'm okay, I'm more than okay," I answered calmly while continuing to cook our dinner. "I also don't know bf but maybe because I haven't experienced being giddy before, that's why my reaction is like this.. You're so exaggerated to react like that."
A few minutes passed with my friend Lida continuing to tease me.
"Okay, okay fine, tomorrow come with me to get a checkup because I also need to know why I often feel dizzy," I said.
"Don't tell me . . ..." Lida said, cutting off what she was going to say.
"Oh my, your mind is so dirty! Come on, let's eat," I nagged, and we both laughed loudly in my small kitchen.
Finally, I have someone to eat with again.
And even though Lida was worried about my dizziness, when my friend returned to her unit, I suddenly thought of looking out the window and I saw the man sitting on the chair where he is always there and he was bowing his head.
*VINCE'S POV*
There is something different about this woman that I don't understand. She is the only woman who had the courage to approach me despite my appearance. I hope what I am feeling is right, Vince said to himself while sitting on the long bench.
All that I have is worthless if I cannot find the right woman for me, Vince said again to himself.
Vince is a successful man and CEO of his own company, but he seems tired of the luxurious life and the repeated nagging of his parents to get married. He knows in himself that his Mom just wants to have a grandchild and an heir for their company because, like Angel, Vince is also an only child of his parents.
Many women have been offered by his Mom but, in the end, he doesn't like them because Vince sees that they only want his money.
"I want to be a normal person too and experience love that doesn't look at status in life," That is the only thing the CEO holds on to. Although many women came to him, he never took anyone seriously.
Until one day, he decided to pretend to be a beggar and homeless to see if there was a woman who would love him despite his poverty, and for the first time there was a woman who was kind enough to approach him and give him food despite his dirty appearance and scary stare.
"Perhaps Mom will be angry if she finds out what I'm doing, so please don't let her know about this," Vince said to the man he was talking to on the phone.
"Just tell Mom that I went to a business meeting and I will be gone for a few months so she won't worry about me," Vince added to the person he was talking to.
"Yes sir, as you wish," replied the person on the other line.
"I hope it doesn't rain tonight," Vince said while looking at the sky.
Days passed, nights passed, Angel just continued what she was doing. Every morning before she goes to work, she leaves coffee and sandwich beside the chair of the beggar man while he is sleeping. She no longer asks him if he wants it or tries to force him to talk because Angel is hesitant because the man might just be grumpy to her again.
One morning, the man pretended to be still asleep to purposely wait for the woman, Angel, to pass by to give him food and hot coffee. Angel was about to put down the sandwich and coffee when Vince suddenly opened his eyes.
Our eyes met.
"Ah! Sorry! I... I just . . ." I stuttered. My hand was shaking holding the coffee.
