CHAPTER#3 : A Simple Thankyou

1115 Words
I got out of the shower and got dressed right away. I lost my appetite to go for a walk like I planned earlier. That man was so grumpy to me. This is really how I am. I'm so shy, I rarely have the courage to talk to other people because most of the time I'm just talking to myself haha. Just kidding, but seriously, I get hurt easily when someone raises their voice at me or when I feel embarrassed. So I'll just stay here in my room and rest. I thought of peeking out the window. The grumpy man was no longer on the chair, only his umbrella was left there on the seat. Where did he go? I asked myself and went back to bed. I love reading books, so I just decided to read because I have nothing else to do since I decided not to go out anymore. Hours passed and I fell asleep. And when I woke up, it was already afternoon. I need to prepare dinner because I already skipped lunch. I was feeling a bit lighter compared to earlier when I felt dizzy and I couldn't understand why. I had to go out but this time the man was there on the chair again. I didn't look at him or even try to talk to him. I just continued walking. But it felt like someone was watching me while I was walking. I just kept walking, and I quickened my steps because I was not feeling good, like someone was following me. Until a loud sound stopped me. I was startled and stopped and slowly looked back at where the sound came from. There was a trash bin that fell over and a man lying down who seemed to have fainted. But what shocked me more was that the grumpy man from this morning whom I gave coffee to was there. I was shocked, and I didn't know what was happening when the man spoke. "Thank you for the coffee and sandwich this morning," he said in his deep British voice, and then he walked away. I couldn't speak right away because I still didn't understand what happened, but I just hurried away and went to the grocery store. What was that?? But oh my god wait . . .he said, Thank you! I whispered to myself, feeling giddy. Whaaa! His voice is so deep, but I felt that his thank you was sincere. So he does know how to say thank you! I said to myself without noticing I was already smiling. "What's happening to you girl? Why are you smiling so much? Teased a voice I heard. When I looked, I saw a familiar face. "Loida! I greeted and hugged her tightly. Loi is my friend who also lives in the same apartment building I live in. Her unit is on the third floor but I haven't seen her for a long time because she had to go home to the province for a few months. "When did you come back?" I asked. "Just yesterday," she answered. "You didn't even come to my unit or even call me ,so I would know you were back. I was almost going crazy. Thank goodness you're back bff, I said. "Hays! Yeah, I saw you smiling alone there. What's happening to you? By the way, I didn't tell you I was going home because I know you're always tired, and you need to rest," Loi said. "I didn't go to work today because I wasn't feeling well," I answered. "But what's wrong with you, you look like you're in love? I've never seen you like this Angel, huh? Is there something I should know?" Loi insisted. I just laughed and said, "Come on, come with me to buy groceries and let's go straight to my unit. I'll cook, let's eat together, is that okay?" "Of course, I really missed your cooking and I missed the food here in our place and, most of all, I missed my most beautiful and kindest friend," Loi said flatteringly. "Oh my, you're flattering me again. Okay, fine, you can eat even without flattering me," I jokingly said to my friend. "How are you here, are you okay? So do you have a boyfriend now?? How's your work?" My friend asked in rapid questions as if she was my lover with how worried she was. "Oh my BFF, you haven't changed, you love me so much," I said calmly. "Of course, I'm okay, but lately I've been a bit lonely because, you know, it's hard without family with you. You're lucky because anytime you have a family you can go home to," I said sadly. Lida suddenly became quiet. She knows my story. She knew that I had become an orphan since our house burned down when I was 10 years old. She knows that only Lola Laing raised me, and now she's gone too. "Angel, I'm here okay. You don't need to be lonely. From now on, we will always eat together. And besides," she whispered, "Even if you don't have a family, you have a best friend who is like family already." --"Of course, I really missed your cooking and I missed the food here in our place and, most of all, I missed my most beautiful and kindest friend," Lida said flatteringly. "Finally, I have someone with me again, at least I have someone to talk to aside from myself," I jokingly said to my friend. "You have a lot of stories you need to tell me, and until when are you here? Are you leaving again??" I asked worriedly. "Oh, come on, let's go shopping first. I will answer all of that later when we get home. It's good that I thought of passing by here to buy stocks for my unit," said Lida. "Let me include what you're going to buy, and I'll treat you," she added. "Oh no don't, there you go again, I can handle myself. Don't be stubborn there," I insisted to my friend not to bother me anymore. --- "Let me do it because you know that no matter how much you refuse, I won't stop insisting on you, and we won't go home if you don't let me be the one to buy." "Hey Angel, you're still like that, you're still shy. Come on, let me do this because I have been gone for so long. Let's do it like this. Agree that I will buy what you need, then you will be the one to cook, deal??" She insisted. "And when did I ever win against your stubbornness, huh, Lida," I answered.
