As Helen Middleman – nee: Templeton – had said it would be, so it was.
The arrangements for the trip had been perfect and they – her retinue and the young wife herself – had left exactly upon time.
There had been no hitch anywhere and, her brother having departed, she was now, with husband, male follower, and aides, at the very start of a month’s adventure she had dreamt of for many months now.
Longer, in fact.
Much, much, longer.
The guide recommended her, Mustafa Ali, appeared capable and efficient, effacing himself when not wanted and replying with courteous dignity when spoken to on that first day of their trip towards the interior.
