“Freeze!” A voice shouted from behind her, making her swear. These guys moved faster than she thought, and they were armed. Christy rolled quickly across the desk and then made her way towards the rooms across the hall. She could here shouted orders and responses echoing over the walkie-talkies as they mobilized to capture.
“Good thing they’re rookies.” She muttered as she entered an empty room. She pulled the window open and looked out, grimacing. Three stories was usually their limit, four if they were feeling daring. Chris knew that the five-story jump was going to hurt like hell.
“Here goes nothing.” She quickly slipped over the edge and fell into oblivion. She tensed, bracing for the impact. Pain radiated up her legs as her body absorbed the shock. Christy brushed it off as she quickly made her way to the car. As she rounded the corner, she could hear Vlad reaming Ethan out.
“How the hell could you leave her in there unprotected?” Vlad looked like he was about to murder Ethan with his bare hands. Maybe she should step in.
“Vlad, lay off. I told him to.” He whirled in a defensive stance before the tension drained from his body.
“Dorogaya, you have to stop scaring me.” Relief filled his voice as he approached her.
“I’m sorry.” Chris muttered before his lips closed over hers. The taste of him exploded inside of her, nearly devouring her.
“Ok, now that everyone is here, how about we move along before they move the search party outside.” Cullen’s voice had her pulling away with a sheepish expression. She nearly had forgotten where they were.
“Good idea.” She muttered, climbing into the back seat of the car and pulling Brendan’s head onto her lap. Once everyone was packed into the jeep and headed back to the hotel, she allowed her focus to settle on Brendan.
“I’m so glad you’re safe.” She whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips as tears filled her eyes. She had given up her safety for his, and she knew that she’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
“I’m going to rent another room.” Vlad informed the group once they got Brendan settled. He shot Christy a pointed look before stalking out of the room. They seriously had to talk. Something just wasn’t right about the whole situation. Just exactly how had she found her brother and why did she look so damned guilty and lost? After securing a room, Vlad made his way back to the group. He felt jealousy sweep through him as he walked into the room and found Chris lying on the bed next to Brendan, running her fingers through his hair. What was it about them that made them connect to one another so strongly?
“Chris, I need to talk to you.” He bit out more tersely than he meant to as he fought to get his feelings under control.
“Sure.” She muttered as she climbed out of the bed and walked towards him. Before she could say anything, he gripped her arm and propelled her out of the room.
“What the hell was that?” He practically shouted once the door to his rented room swung closed.
“He’s my other half. I thought you understood that after what we went through with Cullen and Allie.” Wide midnight-blue eyes stared at him in confusion.
“I don’t mean just now with you and Brendan. I meant with all of it.” He turned away in frustration, pacing the tiny room.
“I don’t know what you mean.” She watched him warily.
“I mean, why in the hell did you run off and not ask for help, and where did the intel come from? Why can’t you look me in the eye?” All of his questions were fired at a growl. The tears that sprang into her eyes nearly unmanned him.
“I didn’t ask for help because no one would listen.” She snapped, sweeping angrily at her nose. “You heard how they all gained up on me!”
“Why didn’t you ask me?” He blurted, hurt filling me.
“Because you weren’t there. Because after promising to be on my side, you took of without so much as a goodbye.” Guilt filled him at her anger-filled comment. She was right. He had no right to be angry with her when he had been the one to run.
“I’m sorry, Dorogaya.” He whispered, pulling her into his arms. “I’m so sorry.”
Christy sank into his comforting embrace and inhaled the warm, enticing scent of him. She felt lust stir inside of her as moisture pooled between her thighs. Her baser instincts took over as she pulled back slightly and pressed her mouth hungrily to his. Vlad groaned against her lips as his gripped tightened around her waist. As he deepened the kiss, the taste of him exploded on her tongue, exploded inside of her. Chris trailed her hands up his tight stomach to his broad chest. She thrilled at the feel of his hard muscles twitching under her touch.
“Chris, I don’t think we should do this.” He muttered against her lips, but he didn’t break the embrace.
“Don’t think; just feel.” She responded back, wrapping her arms around his neck so that she could play with the silky strands of his hair. “Let us both just feel.”
Vlad knew he was a goner the moment her lips touched his. He was tired of fighting what he felt and he could no longer deny what he craved. He stepped back, breaking he kiss so that he could pull her shirt over her head. His eyes raked over her, making him harden at her body’s reaction to him. Pert n*****s pressed insistently at her camisole and desire made her eyes practically glow. Vlad made quick work of he camisole as his mouth fastened hungrily back to hers.
Chris felt her blood heat and then thicken under the onslaught of his kisses. She had managed to rip his shirt away and she gloried at the feel of his skin pressed against hers. When his mouth claimed her breast, she nearly melted into him. She was pretty sure that if his hand hadn’t been supporting her, she’d have fell to the floor. Vlad backed her up until she felt the bed behind her. When he guided her down, she felt her bare bottom touch the covers.
“How…” She trailed off, looking at him in surprise.
“I know many tricks, Dorogaya.” He shot her a wicked grin and then began to drive her beyond distraction with his touch and his tongue. Each touch filled her with overwhelming sensation. With each caress, he left a part of himself behind, branding his essence into her very soul.
Vlad found with every taste of her he craved more. She was like a drug, enticing and addictive. Every sound she made inflamed his desire until it built to a point where it just had to be released.
“Vlad, I want you inside of me. Now.” Her husky demand had him eager to comply. His mouth came down on her once again as she prepared himself and pushed inside of her. It was like finally finding a home, finding a place where he didn’t have to hide, and as he buried himself deeply inside of her and lost himself to her sweet love, he felt his heart stumble and fall at her feet.
As he entered her she felt his mind open to her. His guard came down and his life unfolded before her eyes. She felt her heart go out to the lost, lonely orphan boy even as she fell in love with the man. As intense pleasure exploded inside of her, she realized she’d never love anyone as much as she loved him.
Vlad had never known that he could love someone so much. He had given a part of himself away and he knew that there was no turning back. He would be bound to her for the rest of his life.
“Ya tak lyublyu tebia.” He whispered emotionally, placing a tender kiss on her lips as he slipped out of her and folded her into his arms.
Chris felt her heart turn in her chest at his words. He had confessed his love to her. Once his breathing evened and he slipped into dreams, she finally responded.
“I love you, too, Vlad. More than you’ll ever know.” She turned in his arms to face him and pressed her lips to his in a gentle kiss. His face lost all of its intensity in sleep. He almost looked vulnerable. Christy reached out, rubbing her hands through the silken strands of his hair. When he only moaned and pulled her closer, she felt tears prick her eyes at the implications of the gesture. He trusted her implicitly. Chris pressed herself closer, burrowing into him as regret filled her. If only she were worthy of that trust.
