"What if I don't go?" Ethan asked, his tone icy as he rejected Kristen's threat.
"Don't go?" Kristen scoffed, as if she had anticipated his refusal. She wasn't upset and sneered, "I'm a PhD from Imperial Medical University, and I'm the mayor's daughter! You're with the Sullivan family, right? I heard you're just their live-in son-in-law."
She paused for a moment, her expression turning more contemptuous. "The Sullivans are a nobody family with a small investment firm, right? I bet they always deal with city hall for permits and approvals. Now, what do you think would happen if I made a call and told the city departments to keep an eye on them?"
Her voice was full of threats. Ethan's face darkened, and he replied coldly, "Do you even know what the consequences would be?"
