"Just drink this Christina we can catch up later" he says sternly and I drink the bottled water while rubbing my small back and my body starts to relax.
Once I place the half bottle of water on the table I debate on whether to bring up the past or just thank him for saving me.
"Thank you for saving me ummm if it weren't for you I'd have you know…" I mutter awkwardly.
He gives me a stern nod just like in the old days when I was a teenager.
We both stare at each other wishing that we could say what was on our minds.
"How did you know where to find me?" I curiously asked, trying to clear the awkward tension between us.
"I just followed my instincts" he replied coolly and I frowned at him. I knew that he wasn't trying me the entire truth someone had definitely tipped him off.
"You're lying Eric I'm sure my grandpa must have sent you here" I mutter bitterly recalling what aunt had told me about my parents and my grandpa being a cold-blooded mafia in the underground.
He scoffs and gets up.
"Look Christina I didn't come all the way from Hong Kong just to argue with you" he said angrily and I scowl at him.
"Oh so that's where you've been hiding for all these years I see" I said taunting him and he sighs deeply.
"I should take you home. Your husband is probably worried sick about you."
I gasped in shock.
"Excuse me we are just engaged and he's my fiance" I muttered correcting him harshly showing him my ring.
He rolls his eyes at me.
"It's the same thing he's still going to be a husband" he admits bitterly.
"Just relax I'm not here to argue with you."
I clocked a brow at him and let out a nervous laugh.
"Are you kidding me?" my own family want me dead just because of a stupid inheritance that my grandfather left me that's not even funny. "
A tear rolls down my cheek and I quickly wipe it away. The last thing I wanted was Eric feeling pity and sympathy for me.
He places a comforting hand on my shoulder while I sniffle softly.
" Come on we better get going, before your killers come after you I'm sure my apartment is the safest place and they don't know me we'll go and stay there."
My eyes widened in shock.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" I asked fearfully.
"Yes I am sure" he said firmly and I quietly nodded.
The mere thought of going back home sent a shiver down my spine, but Eric was right I would be more safe at his house.
"Your girlfriend won't mind if a girl shows up in a flimsy nightgown at your house?" I teased and for the first he grinned.
"I don't have a girlfriend Christina. I live alone and I like having my privacy."
"Oh OK" I say coolly.
He gets up and checks the windows while I take time to take in his new appearance.
He was more built, he had muscles, and a beard, his hair was shorter and more shiny.
His face left me blushing. He was very handsome and it was hard to believe that he was single.
He was eye candy. He caught me looking at him and I looked away.
"No one is outside and the guards aren't there either, let's go and please try to be quiet because you talk too much."
I let out a gasp.
"I am not a child so don't tell me what to do" I defend and he grabs my hand forcefully dragging me outside of the room.
He kept glancing around the halls when one of the guards came in that direction. He pushed me in a nearby corner when I tried to protest. He covered my mouth.
"Hush…now or you'll get us both killed."
Our eyes locked and he slowly removed his hand. He cupped my cheek and I buried my face in the crook of his neck inhaling his masculine scent.
He smelled good.
"Christina…"he rasps and places a hot kiss on my shoulder blades.
"Why did you leave without saying goodbye?" I whisper against his skin and he wraps a possessive arm around my waist.
I bring my face closer and our foreheads pressed together.
"I left because I couldn't resist touching you and I didn't want to cross my limits because you were just a minor."
"But I'm not a child any more Eric I'm a woman now."
He releases a shaky breath and leans towards my face and I close my eyes and slowly part my lips.
"You're engaged I can't kiss you" he whispers in my ear and I opened my eyes.
What demon had possessed me?
"Yeah sorry I wouldn't want to cheat on Zack the love of my life."
His expression changes and his emotions are replaced with coldness.
"The guard is gone, let's go."
I nod.
By the time we're reaching the parking lot I was already breathless. He ushered me towards his car which was a black audi.
"Get in and wear your seat belt" he mutters harshly and I do as I'm told Eric looked furious his harsh tone sent chills all over my entire body.
A gun shot was fired and the back window shattered instantly. I let out a terrified scream and covered my ears.
"s**t!" Eric cussed loudly as he got into the car and slammed the door making me jump in my seat.
"Keep your head down and remember to breathe."
He started the engine and the vehicle roared to life. He stepped on the gas pedal and the car accelerated zooming into the night.
I didn't want to witness what Eric was capable of doing so I kept my eyes shut. The new Eric was dangerous and he returned with a dark, mysterious and twisted side that I couldn't resist.
I clenched my seat tightly, breathing hard needed to convince myself to trust this new Eric Wilder. He would make sure that I was safe and return to my family again.
I slowly opened and I was surprised to find the car on the highway. I turned around glancing at the broken window.
Three black cars were following us. Eric's gaze was fixed on the road, but he kept glancing behind us a few times monitoring the progress of the other vehicles.
He clenched the steering wheel tightly. I couldn't read his expression.
"Take a left" I mutter coolly and he clocks a brow at me.
"What?" He says confused and I frown.
"Just do as I tell you to do, please it's very important" I plead.
He sighs and takes the car into another lane.
"We are going to have to switch places Christina."
I shook my head negatively.
"Yes you're going to have to drive while I shoot at those fuckers who are chasing us"he says bitterly.
" Please I don't want to do this Eric…" I plead, but he ignores me.
" Come on take the wheel. "
We switch places and I release the breath I was holding.
Eric pulls out a gun precisely a sniper and I gasp in fear and swallow hard.
"Eyes on the road Christina." He mutters coolly and aims at the cars behind us.
