Chapter 5

"I was starting to think that you wouldn't make it today," Kimberly said as she looked at him fastidiously. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting... Apologies! Please..." He said, pulled her seat and sat down facing her. He wore a nice fragrance on his suit that made his aura unique. Fascinated by her scars, he looked at her worriedly but chose not to express it yet. "Here, sir," the waiter said as he walked up to them and gave him the menu and dropped hers on the table. He glimpsed at the menu and looked at her. He ticked three things on the menu and handed it back to the waiter. "So..." She looked at him intently as she gave the waiter her own menu. "Forgive me, I ought to have introduced myself to you by now, especially formally," he said, gazed round the inside of the restaurant. The light bulbs were cozy and dim, and most of the seats and tables were vacant. "My name is James. I've lived all my life here. Dad is late. Mum is sick of cancer. I'm the only surviving child of my family. My brother died a few years ago in an accident. I'm a Lawyer by profession," "Thank you," he said to the waiter when he dropped his order on the table. "I'm sorry about your dad, and your mum's situation," "Thank you," still curious to find answers to the questions troubling him about her, he couldn't restrain himself any longer, "What are these scars on your body?" "The scars?" She looked at him suspiciously, and stopped eating. "I think I have to go now," she said and stood up to leave.
