007- Warning

Gao Lei did all he could, But, how long could he hold on as he was alone with just two guards with him.

He then asked one of his guards to go back to the city and try to contact, Wen Ying.

As Gao Lei knew Wen Ying was the most reliable at situations like these, unlike his son Gao Feng.

In charge to take care of some official matters, Gao Lei had sent him out of the city with a task.

Which took time to complete, Who would've thought that just a merry poetry gathering would take such an unexpected turn, So Gao Lei had to call Wen ying back in halfway.

With just one guard left with him, Gao Lei said "Let's continue to search".

" But, My lord you haven't eaten anything since midday," said the guard in a concerned tone. "why don't you at least rest for a while"?.

" I've no appetite, I don't wish for anything except my son," Said Gao Lei with a mixed emotion of sadness & regret.

"Let's hurry up without wasting time".

As Gao Lei took a step forward, an unusual sound alerted his sense, He stopped his legs to walk further, & signaled his guard to keep silent.

They stood silently for a while, But everything seemed to be normal, as they tried to resume their walk, The same unusual& wired sound went through their ears.

They took a few steps back to understand the situation, As they were still observing the process, by taking steps backward they could feel the sound getting close, so they tried to move around in all directions.

But the result was the same, Whichever direction they go the sound grew closer.

Gao Lei pulled his sword, The sword came out with a noise it seemed to disturb something. And a Loud " Thud" was heard from a distance.

Gao Lei & his guard grew alert & were trying to avoid the place, they ran backward from the way they came from. But how could they soon find an exit, There was a lurk of darkness everywhere, just with the help of the moonlight they carefully walked all the way here,

But running wasn't helpful as they realized that they had nowhere to go & we're trapped inside this dense and deep forest.

They had been searching for a long and unknowing they reached into the deeper region of this wild forest

"Ahhhh! a sudden & terrific scream was heard, Gao Lei looked in the direction of the scream just to find his guard in a horrific situation.

His eyes widened in shock, with his jaw dropped & voice stuck in his throat his whole body was shivering, Gao Lei followed the direction where his horrified eyes stared,

As soon as he laid his eyes he couldn't believe what he saw.

A towering tree extended with terrifying branches all around the body was covered with leaves formed in human shape, its roots were above the ground similar to those of legs walking on earth, huge blood-colored branches & black leaves could be seen from the Moonlight passing through the lattice of those strange leaves.

Stunned Gao Lei couldn't name it, he had been in wars for so many years he traveled to different places, But for the first time, he did witness the strangest thing.

what on earth was that thing? just an extremely strange tree or a monster?

if it's a wired tree they could pass by it, in the case of a monster then the two persons standing there wouldn't stand a chance to save themselves.

Gao Lei thought of something for a while and threw the scabbard of his sword in the opposite side upon a tree.

just to confirm its quality

if it's a monster it will get distracted or else any other strange thing then it will at least move this could make the situation better to understand.

But to his surprise, it neither got distracted nor moved a bit, but its blood-colored branches got extended toward the direction of the sound,

the branches snaked the whole tree on which the scabbard was thrown & its branches strangled the tree until it turned into nothing but dust,

In this scene, Gao Lei was terrified, what made the situation more worst was the death scream of the guard that came in response to the incident that took place.

As though the branches had an alert ⚠️ system, they quickly turned in the direction the scream came from.

A big blood-colored branch came forward and was about to crush the person in front, A sudden light flashed & chopped the branch.

with a 'Thud'! The branch fell to the ground like a piece of useless wood.

And the tiny silver assassin blade went back to its master after cutting down the branch.

Gao Lei didn't know what just happened,

His guard was trembling in fear as a moment ago he witnessed his death, couldn't stand firm on his legs, he lost the balance and with a " Flop"!!! He was on the ground...

The sound was loud enough to grab the attention of those horrific branches.

They quickly moved towards the man on the ground as the branch was about to penetrate his throat. Several blades just in a go chopped of the complete tree and with a loud "BANG"!! the tree was on the ground. The movements shook the ground and the surrounding was covered with the dust that was blown up from the ground by the falling tree. It was as though the fog had covered the complete scene & made it difficult to see.

with all this happening, A familiar voice was heard which carried a surprising tone

"Ha! we meet again, General Gao!"

The moment Gao Lei recognized the voice he said all annoyed "It's You again? "

"I thought you would appreciate my help, but I see General Gao doesn't intend to do that," said 'Wang Bai' in an unpleasant, tone.

Gao Lei could least see anything, with the dust-covered everywhere, But he tried his best to open his eyes, What he saw was a handsome face carrying an Almighty expression under the MoonLight, Dust was nowhere to be seen around him as though the was making the space clear for him to walk, his hands were crossly folded behind, He walked forward elegantly, He took his right hand from behind which carried a dark blue fan printed on it was a colourful mighty bird, which seemed eye-pleasing, but on second look it seemed very dangerous, with a 'SWOOSH' he fanned forward, The entire place was now clearly visible.

"Who the hell are you? How did you alone deal with that strange thing?" Asked Gao Lei in a suspicious tone.

A mix of discontent flashing in those pair of shimmering eyes & A dangerous smirk on those beautiful lips together created a lethal aura. He moved closer & said in an umbrage tone "It's bad manners not to appreciate your savior, 'General Gao, ! he squinted his eyes a little & continued " I thought you're an upright person". Saying this he continued to walk his way.

"I don't hold on to anybody's favor I'll return it, to you when the time comes. But your strange behavior and actions make me suspicious of your identity".

without resuming his steps he said

" Ah! I see, General Gao! I advise you not to take a special interest in my personality. this village isn't a safe place, better focus on your journey.

"Are you threatening me? you're such an arrogant kid," said Gao Lei in an irked way

Wang Bai paused for a moment & looked behind his eyes flashed a fierce look, that could send down the chill to anybody's spine with a warning tone he said " Choose your words wisely, Next time I won't be kind enough" after completing this sentence his face instantly changed with an innocent smile he said, "Have a safe trip, General Gao". & walked away
