Lexie
The sound of my alarm going off wakes me out of my sleep and I'm glad for once that I’d forgotten to turn it off on my day off. Elijah had been in my dreams all night long. The dreams would be flashbacks from us in high school and some of us now, our bodies a tangled mess with very satisfied looks on our faces. I turn over and come face to face with a sleeping Bri. How she managed to sleep through the alarm I don’t understand. It’s the most annoying sound in the world, which is why I bought it since I can be a very heavy sleeper. I get up and head towards my bathroom, take my clothes and turn the shower on.
Once I'm nice and clean I hop out grab a towel and wrap it around myself. I head towards my closet and dress in basketball shorts and a tank top; my usual day off attire. Today will be dedicated to doing laundry, going to the gym, and watching more TV than is good for my brain cells. I'm walking out of my closet when I hear running and then the slamming of my bathroom door. I can’t help but laugh at Bri's current state before I head to the kitchen to cook us some breakfast. A while later I have eggs and bacon ready to eat. I grab the toast and reach up to the cabinets to get plates when Bri smacks my ass so hard, I almost drop everything.
"Damn it Bri!" She just laughs, grabs some of the pills from the cabinet next to me and starts walking towards the kitchen table.
"It's not my fault, your ass was just there asking for attention." I look over my shoulder and notice she took a shower and changed into clean clothes. She usually ends up too drunk to drive herself home, so she'll stay at my place. It used to happen frequently enough that I gave her, her own drawer. Hell, the guest room is practically her room she just refuses to use it. She always ends up in my room, but I'm used to it by now.
"So what are we doing today?" Bri asks as she takes a seat withher plate full of food.
"Laundry, Gym, and then we can have a movie day if you want."
"Ha! I thought you were going to say gym, Tan, Laundry! I know how you love watching those dumb shows."
"Actually, I almost did." She shakes her head at me, then agrees with the plan right before she stuffs[LG1] her face with toast.
After we finish eating, we clean up and get ready for the gym. Once in my car her phone starts ringing and a big cheshire smile forms on her face. She looks like a kid on Christmas.
"Who's that?" I have good feeling it’s the bartender from last night.
"Is it the chick from last night? What was her name again, Debbie?" She stops texting to correct me.
"Her name was Dannie." I shrug, there's no need to remember her name. She won't last long, they never do. My best friend has commitment issues. The longest she's dated anyone is 3 months[LG2] , and that's pushing it. I can’t help myself, so I mess with her until she finds the perfect question to shut me right up.
"So speaking of last night, was that Elijah I remember seeing?" We stop at a red light and I frown at her, remembering that I saw him last night but still don’t know how to feel about it. She starts laughing, so I turn the volume up on the radio up and try to ignore her.
"IT WAS HIM! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT YOU'D RUN INTO HIM AGAIN?" I turn the music louder and look straight ahead the rest of the way to the gym. Why did he have to show up again after so long? I had to admit he did look really good last night, and it pissed me off that I noticed. He was going to be trouble, I just knew it. I don’t dwell on it too much though, this is a really big city. Seeing him again is not likely, it’s not like I gave him any way to find anyways. When we finally get to the gym and before walking in Bri stops walking and grabs my hand.
"I'm sorry. I know he's a tough subject to talk about, but do you think he'll try and get in touch with you?" I don’t know, honestly. Part of me wants him to fall off a cliff and land balls first, but the younger, stupid part of me is hoping my phone will ring and it'll be him who's calling.
"Don’t know, but I really hope not. Cause god knows the man looks too good for his own good, and I was weak when it came to him." Bri smiles at me and nods her head in agreement.
"I wasn’t going to say anything, but damn Lexie! I know I was drunk and barely got a glance but what I did see was yummy." I nod my head because she isn't lying. If anyone else had saif it, I would have sat there and denied it but this is Bri, she knows what happened between Elijah and I, I can’t lie to her.
"Whatever, now come on its leg day!" I put way too much excitement in my voice because I know it’ll annoy her. I laugh when I hear her grunt and as she stomps the rest of the way inside.
The rest of the day goes pretty much as planned. We watch a whole series of movies until Bri leaves to go meet up with the bartender from last night.
I head to bed because tomorrow I’ll be back at work for 12 hours straight and I’m trying to get as much sleep as I can. Unfortunately, I can’t stop thinking about HIM, and it’s pissing me off. Hopefully making myself busy at work tomorrow will keep the thoughts of him away. I’ll just keep telling myself that, and maybe I’ll believe it.
