When Olivia returned from Detroit, she seemed noticeably happier than she’d been before she left. Maybe being with her family had rejuvenated her in some way. She’d always complained to me that her parents and older sister treated her like a stepchild, criticizing her for marrying too young and marrying a man they didn’t like.
