Emma locks herself in the bathroom. She tries to keep her heart from beating so fast and so irregularly. She doesn’t want Parker to know. She doesn’t want Parker to understand that Chris could still make her heart aflutter when he looked into her eyes the way he just did. It was ridiculous. Ten years, ten freakin years! How come she still couldn’t forget him. And these feelings, what does this even mean?
Does she betray Parker for having these feelings for Chris still. But Chris left, he bailed out on her. Shouldn’t she be angry at him now? Yes, yes, she should. She must, in fact. Chris had bailed out on her when she needed him the most. It was Parker who stayed. So, why isn’t she angry? Why does she still want him? Is she crazy?
