Centuries of political instability, imperialist invasion, and regional war have coupled with a harsh climate and the march of time to destroy many of the artifacts important to understanding ancient Mesopotamia. Myths and historical documents alike have also become lost, giving us an incomplete vision.
As this is a fantasy book, I have taken liberties with the historical record. That being said, here are some of the scholarly details on elements used in Lord of Blight. (You can find the historical note on the central characters in the Queen of Shades series included in book one.)
