Once their tiny celebration was over, Sasha was sent away to have her meal with the servants as usual. Jayhan gave her a little wave as she left and turned to see Yarrow fairly quivering with indignation.
“Come now, Yarrow,” said Maud bracingly. “You can either give her consequence or give her safety but not both at the moment. Sasha’s future depends on maintaining her disguise as our stableboy. Once you have had an opportunity to change, you shall dine with us this evening and exchange knowledge with Sheldrake. Tomorrow, after Sasha has worked in the stables for the morning, you may share your shaman knowledge with Sasha… and with Jayhan and Sheldrake, during their afternoon magic lessons. The more we know of her powers, the more we can all protect her.”
