Lilith was a fiery child, with platinum blonde hair and a grin that could kill a man. She loved no one more than her grandmother Janice. Janice was her mother’s mother, and she spent a lot of time at her house while her mother worked. Janice would greet Lilith as she got off the bus and she would have her favorite food ready for her inside. The memories that Janice’s house hold are immense.
Her cousin Kassandra would come North to visit during holidays with her Aunt and Uncle, and Kassandra was the one person in her childhood that she absolutely despised. Once, Kassandra sprayed bug repellent in her eyes. So Lilith grabbed the can - barely being able to see - and sprayed her back. Kassandra proceeded to run inside blaming Lilith for the whole thing. Her mamaw Janice, however, knew better and always took her side since she knew how mean Kassandra could be.
Lilith was a strange child in the eyes of some people. She was overly smart. Whether or not it was the result of her mother being a schoolteacher or not, she didn’t know. She always had A’s, and knew more than the other children around her. Almost every single award during an award ceremony went to her. She was not, however, arrogant about it. Something her mother drilled into her head her whole life was the golden rule and she followed it religiously.
“Do unto others as you would have then do unto you”. She always treated others as she’d want them to treat her, even if they were being nasty. Some children didn’t have the things in life like she had, and she picked up on that fact at an early age. Her best friend was names Hannah. She met Hannah in preschool, and their friendship was the best experience.
She spent many nights at Hannahs house, with some of her other friends like Gwen and Darlene. They would play Barbie’s, have fashion shows, and play crazy games. At Lilith’s house, she had an underground pool. One time, there was a crazy storm coming while they were swimming and they all ran inside. Gwen convinced them it was the end of the world because her parents were Christians. They barricaded themselves in the bathroom until Lilith’s parents finally convinced them that the end of the world wasn’t that day and that the storm was over.
