Chapter 12Thorn checked the rear-view mirror for the thousandth time and turned into a smaller gravel road than the one he was driving on. No one was following him. No one had been following him when he’d left Sidney, no one had followed him when he left the Chevy in the parking lot outside City Hall, and no one had followed him when he’d walked to his apartment. There he’d showered in lots and lots of hot water. He’d had a beer, put on his favorite jeans, and he’d eaten his fill of the food he had in the fridge. Then guilt had swamped his mind and had propelled him into action.
