The Child with the Star Mark The night was silent, with no moon in the sky. Thick clouds covered the Visayan mountains as a cold wind moved through the trees. In a remote place stood an ancient tree. Beneath it, a woman in white held a sleeping baby. Fear and desperation filled her eyes. “Forgive me, my child.” She looked at the baby’s wrist, where a faintly glowing star-shaped mark pulsed with hidden power. She placed the baby in a black bag, leaving an opening for her to breathe. “I am not leaving you because I do not want you. I am leaving you because I want you to live.” She kissed the baby’s forehead. “Your true world will come back for you.” A huge star appeared in the sky. “FIND THE CHILD!” a voice roared from the forest. Using a silver crystal, she opened a portal to a river in the human world and placed the baby in a black bag. “I’m leaving you so you can live. Your true world will come back for you.” “FIND THE CHILD!” a voice roared. “They’re already here…” With trembling hands, she pushed the bag through the portal. She pushed the bag through the portal. “Live, my child.” The portal vanished.
