THIRD PERSON 'S POV “I knew I heard the door open,” Logan said as he made his way down the staircase smiling. Her skin crawled at the fake smile. “How could he smile at me like that after being with another woman last night?” Lucy thought to herself. His forehead creased. “Why do you look like that? Did something happen?” he asked with concern. Lucy wanted to scream at his face and tell him to drop the pretense. But she closed her eyes and swallowed the words. "No, it's nothing like that. I had a minor accident, and I am just tired.” She replied instead. “An accident?” He yelled in shock, his eyes widening. He walked closer and hugged her. She almost barfed at the contact, but she pushed down the bile rising in her throat and rather took a step back. “You must really be tired. I know how tough it is for you to make money for both of us. I am the man in this relationship, and I should be taking care of you, but I am such a disappointment,” he said sadly. Normally, in this kind of situation, Lucy would always reach out and comfort him. Telling him it's not his fault and he shouldn't blame himself. But today she couldn't. The words wouldn't pass her mouth. She felt numb. She couldn't fathom how the man standing in front of her was the same man who said all those things to Caramel. Lucy scoffed in her mind. “And somehow he has managed to subtly ignore the fact that I just told him I had an accident and instead focused the discussion on himself. How did I never notice these things? Was I that blinded by my love?” She thought to herself. When she didn't say a word, he looked up surprised. “Seems you are getting tired of me. But I promise I am working on something with the last money you gave me. “You mean the ten million dollars I gave you last week?” Lucy managed to ask. “Yes. This time the music is really going to do well, and I will get returns. Once that happens, I will start taking good care of you. I swear it.” he said with a serious face. Lucy swallowed hard and forced the words to leave her mouth. “I know. I know you will do that. It's really not what you are thinking; I am not tired of taking care of us. I am just exhausted; like I said, I had a minor accident. I rushed back last night because I missed you. But the accident spoiled the surprise. She said, “I understand. I missed you a lot too. I kept counting the days until your return.” He smiled and tried to kiss her, but she turned at the last minute, and his lips landed on her cheek. “I know you did.” She said the words she knew were blatant lies. “I am exhausted right now; I just want to rest.” Her voice cracked as her emotions choked her. “I understand. Come on, let's head to the room so you can get your beautiful sleep.” He smiled at her. “Would you like me to join you in bed?” He asked as they walked up the stairs. “If I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes, I would have been deceived by his acts. He has played me well all these years.” Lucy thought to herself sadly. She peeled her clothes off and entered the bathroom. The clothes she wore were torn in different places, but yet Logan didn't notice, or maybe he just didn't care. She turned on the shower and stood under it. The cold water cascaded down her body. But even the water couldn't wash off the heaviness in her heart or the disgust she felt. Tears rolled down her eyes, and she increased the pressure of the shower to drown her muffled cries. Even after last night, she still hasn't been able to figure out what to do. Her emotions were everywhere, and she truly loved Logan. She has loved him for years, and now she doesn't know what to do without her love for him. The note she saw at the hospital suddenly came to her mind. “Revenge…” she muttered. “How do I do that? How do I get revenge?” But eventually she put off the shower and left the bathroom in a robe. As she came out, Logan was sitting on the bed waiting for her. “Did the hospital give you something to apply on these little cuts and bruises?” he asked. Lucy turned around and looked at him without saying a word. “You did go to the hospital, right?” Lucy turned around. “I did. They gave me something, but you don't have to worry about it,” she replied. He stood up and walked over to her. “Why? Why shouldn't I worry about it? You are my wife. We have been married for three weeks now. Of course, I should worry about you. I don't want you looking like a mess when we leave for our honeymoon or dying before then,” he said in a sweet but sickening tone. "We are still traveling for the honeymoon at the end of the month, right?" He asked sweetly, but Lucy had no reply for him. “You know what? I think you should stay back at home today. You need to rest and allow your body to heal,” he said to her, “More like allow my heart to heal. I wish it was just body pains that I was feeling. It will be much better than the heartache I am feeling,” Lucy said to herself. She sighed and looked away from him. “I don't need to rest. I have already got enough rest in the hospital. I forgot that I had an important client to meet today. Actually, the case has been giving me a lot of concerns. “Would you like to hear the story?” She asked. “Errm, yes. If that will make you feel better.” He smiled sweetly. “I have a client who wants a divorce. She has been with her husband for almost as long as I have been with you, but he caught him cheating on her after everything they have been through together. She came to me because she wanted a divorce, but she is hesitant too. She wants to kill him, but she also loves him too much. I don't know how to advise her or what to do. It's just bothering me.” Lucy replied. “What do you think I should do?” She asked and waited for his reply. “Let's hear what you have to say.” She thought to herself. His face scrunched up in disgust. “Of course she should divorce the piece of s**t! He doesn't deserve her. "You should advise her to go ahead with it," he replied. “Excellent performance, Logan.” Lucy clapped for him in her head. “You could have anyone fooled.” She thought to herself. She had the strong urge to scream at his face and tell him she knew about what he was up to last night, but she swallowed it. “That is what I will do," she replied. She dressed up and left the house. Even though what she truly wanted was just to curl up in bed and cry her eyes out. But she knew she couldn't spend another minute with him in the same room. She had told Clinton not to bother coming in today, but now she was leaving the house to work. But on second thought, she realized she wouldn't be able to get anything done at work. She hailed a cab and gave directions to a hotel. She lowered the window and placed her face close to feel the air. “I am done crying. It's time for revenge. I will pay them back for what they did to me and make sure they do not lay their hands on any of my money or property.” She silently made up her mind.
