NOEL LAY ON THE LONG sofa, anxiety humming through his body as he stared up at the ceiling, the sound of the waterfall behind him refusing to lull him to the sleep he must find. He felt tense and frustrated. At the dinner table he had hoped for some sign from Elise that she would invite him to her bedroom this evening.
