AURORA’S POV. I accessed the whole room with my eyes and tried to take in every detail I could find. I sighted a picture of him on the wall and walked over to take a good look at it. He looked breathtaking in it. Always have and always will. A knock erupted from the door, and it pushed open before I could say a word. “Who are you?.” She asked, her eagle-like eyes glued to me as she tried to pierce through my thoughts, or maybe she was trying to take me down with those eyes. “I should ask you that,” I responded rudely. I was pissed and angry that she would barge in here and question me in my best friend’s office. She looked fuller and curvier. She was pretty, so pretty, with full pouty lips. She had on a Royal Blue tight sequin dress that hung to her body so perfectly that I could almost wish that I was her and she was me. She had this long beautiful blond hair that stopped on her waist. She had on a White penciled heel. She clutched onto a White purse too. She let out a loud annoying laugh and tuts. “You must be the new slut he replaced me with.” She said rudely, and the cat walked forward to settle in the seat I had sat in just a few minutes ago. I was urged to shout at her, scream at her to leave, to go out, but instead, all I do is stare at her in disbelief. “I? A slut?.” I scoffed and ran my tongue over my upper left premolars before hitting my lips. She ran her eyes over me from head to toe, then back at my face. “You don’t look much like his type, so I doubt that. You must be his sister then or his secretary maybe.” She continued, but I was too shocked to respond to a word she said. Finally, I found my tongue and asked her. “Who are you? And why are you here?.” I asked. I was curious. Desperate to know who is she-wolf was and why she had the guts to barge in and talk to me anyhow. Suddenly it clicked. Unless, of course, this wasn’t her first time. “I’m Evie, Jax’s girlfriend.” She responded, and my jaw dropped as I stared at her in shock. Was it weird that I didn’t believe this she-wolf? Was it weird that I felt she was lying because the Jax I know would never be involved with anyone? He saw commitment as stress and a fruitless thing to be involved in. “Nah! Jax has no girlfriend. If he did, then I would know.” I responded. She rolled her eyes at me in disgust and let out a tut. “What makes you so special that he has to tell you everything?.” She questioned, and I let out a very satisfying laugh. Not because of her question but because I knew where I stood and how high he held me. “I’m a best friend, and I typically know everything about him. He told me nothing about you.” I responded, spilling my words out one after the other, slowly and with so much calmness. I was too calm for someone whose love was about to be snatched by another. She chuckled and inhaled some air after giving me the ‘are you kidding with me’ kind of look, but I paid no attention to her. “I’m his girlfriend, and we have been dating for months. I even have proof.” She informed me, and I stepped closer to her to confirm. Even though I knew this might hurt if it were true, I still wanted to give it a trial. I wanted to convince myself that it could never be true. “Let me see,” I said, my voice tone now soft and low as I hoped it was a lie. She pulled out her phone from her not-too-small purse, and I watched her unlock it. She clicked on the gallery logo, and soon I was faced with a picture of them together. “This could be him with anyone, and you know that,” I said and sent her a smile. “I’m just warming up. I have more. More personal pictures.” She said with a smirk on her face, and my heart broke. Her words pierced my heart just like a dagger, and I felt it beating faster than before and beads of sweat breaking out on my forehead. She faced the phone back to me, and I felt my breath seize. He was kissing her. Right there on the lips. I opened my mouth to say something, but I knew that all that would come out might be stammers or maybe sobs. “See, I told you.” She said and chuckled. She had this look on. This look said she was proud and happy. This look that said she won. I couldn’t let her words get to me. I couldn’t let her see the pain I was trying to mask behind my face. I couldn’t let her see how hurt I knew she had that closure with him that I desired. “He still didn’t say a word to me about you,” I said, forcing a smile on my face and watching her face fall. The door opened. “I’m sorry that I kept you….” His words trailed off the minutes he raised his eyes to look my way. The minute he saw her. “Hi, Jax.” She said sweetly, in a very soft voice. “What are you doing here?.” He asked with a frown on his face. “I came to see….” Her words trailed off when he snapped at her. “See me outside. Now!.” He yelled angrily and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I was shocked. I was shocked to see that he treated her that way. I was shocked to see this side of him that I never knew existed. I watched her shiver as she stood up and staggered behind him.
