Episode 10

Clara‘s POV Frost’s mask almost shattered. Harper looked at me like she was seeing a different person, then suddenly broke into a wide smile. She was genuinely happy for me. For who I had become. I stepped into the hallway and maintained my voice calm and steady, “I’ll be back soon to resume training the warriors. If you’ve let your claws and fangs dull, I suggest you start working on them now. I can accept weakness, but I won’t accept any laziness.” I paused, then added, “Of course, if you don’t trust me or my wolf, I’ll suggest Alpha Caleb put together a new unit trained by… Maid Frost.” Frost clenched her jaw until her teeth nearly cracked. I didn’t look down on any job or bloodline. I only wanted her to remember what she used to be before she crawled her way on my mate’s bed. I was done wasting my breath on them. I turned and walked into my office. This space was mine. I had designed it, renovated it, built it to be exactly what I needed. And inside one of the wall panels, tucked behind the woodwork, was a hidden safe only I knew how to open. My most important things were there, untouched for five years. And today, I intended to take them back. “Stop!” Frost suddenly lunged at me. I didn’t step back. But my hand moved before my mind did. Slap! A clean, sharp sound. Lovely. I felt my lips curl in satisfaction. The whole hallway went silent. A few warriors cupped their hands over their mouths in shock. Beta Logan stared at me like he was looking at a stranger. He remembered who I used to be—soft, gentle, always stepping aside, always choosing peace. But that version of me only existed because I loved a man who was never worth it. “How dare you hit me!” Frost shrieked, “Sorry,” I said flatly. “I can’t see. Sudden contact triggers my aggression.” “You—! How can you treat me like this? Caleb, he—” She stopped herself, breath sharp and uneven. I knew what she wanted to say. They had been sleeping together now and long before I gave birth. But Caleb must have forbidden her from telling me. He still needed me, after all. Fury rippled through her eyes as she glared at me. I turned again toward my safe. She screamed and lunged a second time. I grabbed the hem of her long white dress and yanked. The fabric tore with a harsh rip. Frost gasped.I pressed her head down and slammed her onto the floor. She let out a pained groan. Then, suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed me from behind and yanked me backward. My balance snapped, and I hit the ground hard. “Clara, what do you think you’re doing?!” He sounds angry and cold. I lifted my head. Caleb walked past me without even glancing at me, going straight to Frost. His entire face twisted with concern for her and disappointment in me. He thought I couldn’t see his expression, so he didn’t bother hiding it. But I saw everything. Just like I did in the past five years. My chest tightened painfully. My knees buckled, and Logan rushed forward, grabbing my arm before I collapsed. “Luna, are you okay?” I didn’t answer. My jaw throbbed from the fall. My eyes burned, but I refused to cry. Not here. Not in front of them. “Alpha, it was my fault,” Frost whimpered as Caleb helped her up, leaning weakly into his arms. “I accidentally bumped into Luna, and she reacted.” Caleb’s jaw snapped tight. He said nothing. “It was an accident,” Logan said quietly. Caleb didn’t respond. He didn’t even look at me. He held Frost close, inspecting her carefully. “Are you hurt?” “I’m fine, Alpha,” Frost murmured, sweet and obedient. Caleb frowned. “She could have killed you. It’s not what Luna should do.” His voice was tight, controlled, but I still heard the protectiveness in it. The same protectiveness that vibrated through the matebond like a blade dragging through my ribs. “Don’t blame Luna,” Frost said softly. “She must be upset since she heard I was appointed Gamma and moved into her office.” She looked at me, lips trembling deliberately. “I’m sorry, Luna. This is all my fault.” Caleb’s expression darkened. “This was the council’s decision. Frost had nothing to do with it. Don’t you think you’ve gone too far?” Something twisted inside me. I had been humiliated and belittled by so many people for so many years, right under his nose. Not once had he defended me. Not once had he stood between me and their cruelty. Every time, he had only told me to understand him because I was Luna. But he had never protected me. I swallowed hard. My strength drained all at once. I forced my voice to stay steady as I pulled away from Logan and stepped forward. “I’ll go back first. We’ll talk tonight.” “Wait,” he ordered. “You should apologize to Frost.” My body pulsed with pain from hitting the floor, but I didn’t cry. I had been living in pain for five years from his betrayal. Hearing them caressing and f*****g each other day and night, seeing them stole my puppies. When I woke up, I thought I had grown calm. I thought I was ready to take my puppies back and leave quietly. I thought I was prepared for everything. But right now, I was furious. Devastated. Because he wanted me to apologize to Frost—the woman who stole my life! And he knew. He knew exactly what she did to me. Something inside me snapped. My vision dimmed for a moment. I forced myself to talk. “You know the kind of person I am. I would never hurt her—” But he wasn’t listening at all. “Clara. Apologize to Frost.” He ordered again. Silence fell around us. Caleb’s face hardened even more. He reached for me, but Frost caught his hand gently. “Alpha Caleb, please don’t push Luna. I’m sure she didn’t mean it. Training is about to start. Let’s go.” Caleb still stared at me. “I’m very disappointed in you today, Clara. We’ll talk later.” And then he turned to Logan. “Take Luna to the infirmary. She’s hurt.” I stood there, watching them walk away together. Frost stumbled lightly at the corner of the hall. Caleb immediately reached out to steady her, his reflex sharp and instinctive. Interesting.
