Kate knows that she has let Liam down.

That night, with her refusal, she had scratched her husband's ego. He could see it all in Liam's blue eyes. And suddenly, a feeling of guilt crept into his heart. Is this what it feels like to disappoint others?

Not. Not. It's not like he never felt it. However, he chose not to want to feel it. The feeling was too intense and didn't match her personality of not wanting to get involved with men. So, he dropped the idea.
