The cabinets were finished. Prema stood near Maria as David put the finishing touches on his cleaning job. He rubbed at each cabinet with a cloth until it shone. Prema had her arms crossed in front of her. All during that terrible afternoon she had really thought they were gone and she still had to hold herself together sometimes, physically grabbing her stomach. It often felt like it wanted to drop out, and her dreams were terrifying.
