The deer disappeared just before sundown but by that time, Kath had managed to set up a spit over a small fire and had gathered two fishes that it had literally scooped out of the flowing river with its mouth. If Kath had not been watching as he did it, she would not have believed it happened. As it was, she was still having a hard time believing her own eyes.
