“Aspen,” Cam says. It’s just the two of us now; Mom’s long gone. “Is she always like that?”
What am I supposed to do here? If I answer him, I’m just going right back down the same road we were on before—the one where we divulge our deepest, darkest secrets to each other, learn everything there is to know about each other, and then, ultimately… what?
One of us is going to get hurt sooner than later, and it’s feeling very likely that it’ll be me.
