YEI KAI CHU
"Blossom!" I yelled furiously and she ignored me going out of the room. Bu Lang strolled casually into my room already dressed for school.
"Why isn't Blossom going to school today?" he asked placing his two hands in his pocket.
"first, before you come into my room always knock and second, don't bring matters concerning Blossom to me". I replied him coldly wheeling my chair away.
Bu Lang and I were usually very close, but everything changed after the accident I became confined to my wheelchair and couldn't go to school for 2 years. When I could go to school again, Bu Lang and I were then in the same class. I don't know how our relationship became soiled, but I remember clearly that we became distant only after the arrival of Blossom to our family.
"Maybe if you stop being rigid and treating the innocent girl so bad, you may start walking again". He muttered, but I heard him clearly and I stopped dead on my tracks. I turned to look at him.
"What did you say?" I asked frowning.
"I said you treat everyone so bad, what makes you think you can treat Summer any better?" He said looking at me in the eye. I was so pissed at the moment.
"You disgust me" he added before walking out. I watched his back angrily then I yelled after him.
"Do you think you can treat her any better? "
"Maybe better than you "he replied stepping into the hallway, then into the living room. Dad sat on the couch legs crossed looking intently to his tab while our stepmother Aunt Tao came down the stairs with her two daughters Shen Yei and Snow Yei dressed in school uniforms.
"Brother Kai, Brother Lang, good morning" Snow greeted enthusiastically. Bu Lang smiled affectionately at her and she jumped down excitedly. Snow was just a 10 years old happy girl. Shen eyed me hatefully then greeted Bu Lang with a broad smile.
"Good morning Brother Lang"
"Hey, hey! some people are extremely happy this morning, what's the secret?" Bu Lang asked arranging Shen Yei's tie.
"Always forgetting to keep this tie checked". He added smiling.
"Not really, it's deliberately left for my favorite big brother". She said with a broad smile, showing off her White teeth.
" Good morning Aunt Tao ". Bu Lang greeted kissing her cheeks and she smiled at him.
" Good morning Lang'er" She replied then turned to Shen.
" Say hello to your eldest brother ". She chided and Shen frowned.
" What's the point? He doesn't even respond, Snow didn't even get any reply from him earlier ". She complained pouting.
" Shen Yei! " Dad's broad voice echoed through the living room sternly.
" No Dad, I'll not waste my greetings on a person who doesn't appreciate greetings. You can punish me, ground me, but never! " She said and walked out in a hurry. Shen was just 17 years old in Senior high school and she used to be an amazing kid just like Snow. But everything changed the moment Blossom came into the family. I clenched my fist at the thought of Blossom.
"It's alright Darling, let her be, I'll talk some sense into her later". Aunt Tao said and turned to me.
"Where's Blossom?" She asked and I got really annoyed and wheeled my chair away.
"Yei Kai!" My father growled out my name and I stopped.
"Your mother is talking to you" He said sternly, lifting his eyes from the tab.
"I don't know where she is. No one should ask me about that b***h". I said and Dad looked at me
"Come-on Snow, let big brother take you to school today". Lang said taking Snow by the hand out of the Living room. Suddenly, a maid came running down from the stairs.
"Dr. Alfred! Dr. Alfred! Help!" she cried out in a panic.
"Luna, what happened?" Aunt Tao asked curiously.
"It's Blossom..." she said trying to catch her breath.
"What happened to Blossom?" Dad asked.
"I was going in to deliver the dry laundry to her room when I found her lying on the floor in a pool of blood ". She said in a panic and Dad jumped out of the couch running up the stairs, taking two steps at a time.
" Tell Mr. Ding to prepare the car". He yelled from the top of the stairs as Aunt Tao followed behind her Luna ran out to inform Chauffeur Ding to prepare the car.
For a split second, I was tempted to Scrabble off my wheelchair and run after them as well. My heart was beating fast and I wondered why. After all, I hated Blossom, why should I be concerned if she died or lived? I shouldn't really care about her right? whatever is happening to her, she deserves it and I shouldn't feel this way about her right? But I can't help it. Dad hurried out carrying Blossom out of her room down the stairs, blood was oozing out of her nose and mouth. I felt my heart squeeze at the sight of her. I wondered how she got like that. Oh my God, what have I done?
ALFRED CHU
I stepped on the gas pedal, constantly looking at the back seat of the car where my wife Tao Shen sat holding Blossom. Blossom has been a part of our family since the past 8 years. Before her arrival, no maid we hired to take care of Yei Kai could stand his temperaments for a week, so when Blossom had come, she had been patient with Yei Kai and hadn't complained one day. Even though my son abused her constantly. She was a nice girl and over the years Tao and I had considered adopting her into our family but she had refused
"Hold on Blossom, we are almost there " Toa assured.
"How is she doing?" I asked flying past the traffic lights.
"She's not doing well, her pulse is slowing down. Honey, I'm afraid " she said in a panic.
" Yei Kai has really gone too far this time". I said after a pause.
