## Chapter Thirteen — Cole's Plan
Cole came on Wednesday evening with a hard drive.
It was a plain black drive, the kind you bought at an electronics store and did not carry in a labeled case because labeling things was for people who trusted their environment. He set it on the kitchen table and sat down and Mia sat across from him and Nathan stood at the counter and Carrie came in from the living room and sat at the end of the table where she had claimed as her seat over the last two weeks.
"I need to show you something I've been sitting on," Cole said. "I should have shown it sooner. I held it because I thought it wasn't ready."
"Is it ready?" Mia said.
"No," he said. "But the timeline is moving and you need to see it."
