## Chapter Twenty — Cole and Carrie
Carrie found the fourth thread on a Thursday night.
She texted Mia at eleven-fifteen: *Thread four confirmed. Same pattern as the others. I'm two threads out now.* Then: *Also Cole is asleep on the couch and I'm not waking him up. He's been running on four hours a night.*
Mia smiled at that.
She typed back: *Good. Let him sleep. Tell me about the thread in the morning.*
The morning version arrived at seven with Carrie at the kitchen table and Cole coming through the apartment door at seven-fifteen with coffee from the place on the corner that opened at six-thirty and was a twenty-minute walk away, which meant he had been up since six-thirty, which meant Carrie's text about letting him sleep had been optimistic.
