## Chapter Forty-One — Cole and Gerald
Cole requested the meeting on a Monday morning.
Mia found out when his attorney called Diana and Diana texted her: *Cole has submitted a formal request through the federal court to meet with Gerald Reed in a supervised setting. The request has been approved. Meeting is Thursday.*
She called Cole immediately.
He answered on the first ring.
"You didn't tell me," she said.
"I decided Thursday," he said. "I didn't tell anyone until I filed."
She stood at her kitchen window. The June morning was bright and entirely indifferent to the weight of the thing she was holding.
"Why now?" she said.
"Because the plea is finalized," he said. "Seven years, three counts, full cooperation with the Whitmore Group investigation.
