I arrived in Sydney three days ago. I just up and moved my life here. Once I decided it was relatively easy. I came from Melbourne. I don’t know anyone who lives here. I always liked the idea that Sydney had surf beaches in the city: Bondi, Tamarama, Bronte, Coogee, and Maroubra. I don’t surf. I body surf. I’m in a motel in Curlewis St, Bondi. I’ve been in the surf every day of the three days. I’ve been checking out the papers on a daily basis for work. I arrived on a Saturday. It’s December 1988. I’m twenty-five. I moved to Coogee to cheaper accommodation; a room with a bed and sofa, a little bathroom and a small kitchen. I bought a TV and video.
