The first thing I notice when I wake up is the horrible headache I have. I try to open my eyes, but the simple action makes me dizzy and I can barely see a blur of strident white before I have to squeeze my eyelids shut and force myself to breathe slowly to calm myself and contain the bile that rises my throat. A few long seconds pass as I focus on inhaling and exhaling, inhaling and exhaling slowly until the horrible dizziness stops, though the headache remains stabbing as if someone is drumming with my brain. But once the dizziness subsides a bit, I can sit up better and that's when I realize I'm in a sitting position. My hands are tied behind my back.
