The creatures came at us from every direction.
I barely had time to breathe before one launched itself at me.
I ducked.
Its claws sliced through the air above my head.
I spun and drove my blade into its chest.
Black smoke exploded from the wound.
The creature disappeared.
Another one came.
Then another.
There was no end to them.
"Aria!"
I looked across the battlefield.
She stood surrounded by silver flames.
The Heart of the Moon floated above her chest, sending waves of energy through the creatures.
Every time one came near her, it was destroyed.
But she was getting weaker.
Her movements were slowing.
"Aria!"
"I'm fine!"
She wasn't.
I could see it.
Her breathing was becoming heavier.
The Heart was consuming her strength.
