Evelyn sat on her couch, staring at the untouched cup of tea in front of her. Edwin had been talking for the past ten minutes—about how toxic Hunter was, about how she needed to cut him off for good—but her mind was elsewhere. She could still hear the sound of Hunter’s car speeding away, could still picture the flicker of something dangerous in his eyes before he left. Jealousy. Possession.
