***Chapter 11: The Unknown Jake Patterson***

"Hey, did you hear Jake Patterson will move here?"

"Jake Patterson will move here,"

"I heard they are some problems with his previous school,"

That is the rumour I heard all the time I pass the hallway. "News flash! The bassist of a popular band called Unsightly Yellow will move here today because of some problems in his former University,"  Said the reporter on our daily gossip site in the uni.

"He's there,"

"He's so handsome,"

"Oh my gosh,"

"He's here, shoot him, shoot him," Said the reporter, I looked back seeing him again in his expensive clothes, I saw him look at me and waved, smiling, seeing him walking to my direction I turned around and walked. "Hey, Zosia Yamamoto!" I heard him hastily walking to me but being blocked by the reporter. Turning to the left, to the library again, greeting Mrs Smith and sat down at my usual sit and took out Sherlock Holmes.

"Hey cutie nerdy girl," I heard someone said in front of me. "I would highly appreciate it if you leave me alone," I retorted, not looking at him and still reading my book. "Rude," I heard him mumbled. "As if you're that kind of genius," He mumbled. "And what if I am," I said annoyed and closed the book I'm reading. I saw Jake in front of me with two books on the table. "Then, can you finish this two books in a day, and I heard you like murder and mystery, I picked those for you," He said and showed me two books: 'The A.B.C. Murders' by Agatha Christie and 'Lethal White' by J. K. Rowling. "What if I did?" I asked. "I'm giving the 'Lethal White' book and I will give you five thousand," He answered. "And what if I didn't?" I asked. "Seven thousand to me," He answered. I put my hand up high, still reading the book, and I felt his hand on mine. "Deal," I said, still reading the book. "Sai, come on, lunch," I heard someone, judging by the nickname it's Allistair, I took out my hand and get the books leaving Jake without saying goodbye.

"C'mon, it's salad day," He said. I stared at him, and he knew the hint. "Sup with you, foul mood?" He asked. "Nothing to worry about," I answered, walking with him in the hallway as the other students chat with their friends. "Sai-" He said. "Don't breath a single word," I cut him and glaring. He observes my arms and his mouth turned circle shape. I guess he knows why. Walking to the hallway while I read 'The A.B.C. Murders' while Alli is beside me, hands on my arm. Walking inside the canteen and sat down at our sit, still reading a shitty book. I love Agatha Christie but this, it's fine but someone's betting? Nah dude.

I eat the meal that Alli ordered for me while reading the book. I folded the page where I left and ate, I then smirked once I knew what to do to finish the books in a day. "Hi, can I sit here?" Asked someone. "J-Jake Patterson?" Asked for confirmation of my friends. I then heard the chair beside me, moved. "Hey, Zosia, how's the books?" Asked by this little s**t again. "And again, Jake, you can sit at the VIP sit in the middle next to that band," I said smiling fakery at the guy beside me. "Nah, I would rather sit here with someone I know than those "Freaky Fans" I'm sitting with," He said while putting a tissue paper in his lap. What the- Tissue paper?! "There are other ladies and gentlemen would like to get to know you," I argue, still reading the book. "Nah, we're friends," He said smiling eating his steak. "Acquaintance," I corrected. "Whatever you say, but nothing changes as the way I look at you," He said and chewed his food.

"What are you two?" Asked Ashanti. "Acquaintance," I answered. "I mean what's going on and how did you know each other?" She asked again. "He's sponsored by Dad's company, he's also on the club as a guest at the get to know that was the time we met each other," I answered. "And I'm friends with her brothers," He added, and the others nodded.

"Do you know him, Alistair?" Asked Jane. "Slightly, I met him in Japan when my family sponsored their concert," He answered. "You were in his concert?" Asked by Jane, again. "Yeah, cause they were out of staffs, so I assist some staff there and met Jake after the concert to personally thank our company for sponsoring," He answered again, and the others nod. "Seems like that, and I miss your big sister, Avelina, how's she?" Asked Jake while eating his half-way-done meal beside me. "She's happily married for seven years and she's still taking care of their four-year-old daughter," He answered.

"That pretty face like hers, I thought she's single," He said. "And those words you spoke, I thought you're a perverted psycho," I said and finished my meal. "You're too rude, Zosia, I thought we're friends," He replied pouting. "If you want to be my friend, try hard," I said while getting my plate and utensils and throw them in the black bag.

"Hey, are you really like that to your friends before?" Asked Alli. "No, except Ashanti who's been trying for weeks, it is a test to see if he's serious to be my friend," I answered and he got the clue. Since the day we escaped, I have trust issues to everyone around me, I can't trust anyone like that, those four bodyguards, they're fishy, I knew something's with them and I just ignored it, lesson learned, trust your gut feeling sometimes. "Well, I think he's pretty serious about it," He said.

"KKKKRRRRIIIIINNNNGGG!!!"

I and Allistair cover our ears cause of the fire alarm. "Students! This is a surprise fire drill! Please evacuate near the gate, immediately! The student council and the police officers will guide you! I repeat! This is a surprise fire drill! Please evacuate near the gate, immediately! The student council and the police officers will guide you!" The speaker, then silent, I can see a commotion near the  gate, looks like we are nearer. "Come on, the student council is there," I heard someone and saw Cyril and the others, I smiled when suddenly it dropped. I saw Jake there smiling like a puppy, I won't lie, that he's pretty cute. I then smiled back at him and nod a little that made his face on fire, what's with him? I then walked with the others as he was just there following us like a golden retriever, with his blonde hair and yellow outfit.

"You sure about him?" Asked Allistair whispering in my ear and I nodded as an answer. We soon lined up as the student committee asked us if some of us are not in our group and Xyla, as the eldest, shook her head. Wait, something's off, Cyril, Alli, Xyla, Elisse, Ashanti, Jake, Vas and Vis, Jane! "Excuse me, Jane's not with us!" I yelled at the student committee. She said something to the walkie-talkie where they communicate. "Um, can you describe her?" She asked. "She's this tall, brown ponytail hair and wears a pink shirt and pants, and here is a picture of her." Xyla showed a picture of Jane as she nodded. The committee repeated and soon waited for our friend.

"Elisse!" I heard someone cried. We saw Jane there beside a professor and waving at us. She then thanked the prof and walks to us. "You sneaky little mouse! Where did you go and why are you with professor!" Xyla silently nags Jane as I just stood there, hands in my pocket beside two guys. "She sure is like a mom," Alli said, feeling a little embarrassed. "I agree" I said as my colleague beside me nodded. "Want some soda?" Asked Alli and I nodded, walking away with him. "Wait, I wanna come also!" I heard Jake yelled and ran to us.

"If I were you, you should invite me in your party," Suggested by the one and only Jake. "I wouldn't, but my family will invite you," I said while drinking the soda in my can while walking back to the campus from the convenience store. "I never surrender for your information, Zosia," He said and swung his arms around me that made Alli glare at him. "I'll do everything, anything !" He proudly said eating his ice cream. "Everything, and anything?" I asked with a smirk on. He then nodded as an answer.

"Check the files again if it is good, and help me research this," I ordered him. He is just helping me make the presentation that I and Ashanti have. "Great, now... it's finished," I said and smiled at him. "There's more, buy me a soda in a can," I ordered and gave him money. "No need, it's mine," He said and walked away. "Zosia, isn't he one of those popular bands?" I heard Mrs. Smith asked. "Yeah," I answered and smiled. "He's handsome, really handsome," She said blushing. "Are you done being flustered by that guy?" I asked and she straightened up her position. "I can see that he's actually pursuing you," She said that made me blush. She then sits down in front of me. "Tell me, Sia, is he pursuing you?" She asked. "No, he wants to be my friend, and you know why I'm being like this if it is male want's to befriend me," I answered. She knows why I'm being like this, since six years ago, I never trust male to befriend me.

"Look at the brighter side, Sia, Allistair left you but he promised and now he came back to you," She said, she has a point there, I think when I have a male friend they will leave me. "Not all guys are like that, Mrs Smith," I said. "My, my, I know when is someone is serious or not, and I know, Jake is serious about being- no, more than friends with you," She said and left. More than friends? What's the meaning of that? I know even I will ask her she will answer, "You'll see." and she'll leave. "Hey, Zosia, here you go,"  He said and gave me the can. "Sia, call me Sia," I said and smiled at him.

"Mind asking, Sia, why does Allistair call you 'Sai'?" He asked. "From my other name, Saoirse, it has a silent 'o', I have a quite long name like Cassius," I explained. "What's Cassius full name and yours?" He asked. "Cassius Nathan Tadashi Yamamoto, and mine Zosia Saoirse Amorie Yamamoto, Caius has the shortest, but it's complicated to pronounce," I answered. "Caius'?" He asked. "Caius Xion Yu Yamamoto," I answered again. "Your name's pretty hard," He said. "My mom wants a unique name and dad wants something long," I replied. "We should go now, the lecture will start in twenty minutes,"
