Dinner was a tense affair, the food tasteless in our mouths. Mom and Dad's eyes carried a quiet blame, fixed on me. I knew they were upset—thought I was being petty, making Chloe so uncomfortable she could barely eat. Dad shot Mom a look. She nodded, picking up a dish and dropping it into my bowl.
