When I woke again, I was alone. They'd visited once when I was first admitted, but after that, it was just the nurses tending to me, changing bandages, bringing food. They didn't come back. I knew they were too busy fawning over Chloe and her pup, basking in their perfect pack life. I didn't care to interrupt. I'd be gone soon anyway. Right before discharge, a nurse handed me a letter. It was from old friends at the local dance troupe, their words dripping with nostalgia. I was leaving Belmor Town for good, no coming back. The least I could do was say goodbye.
