“Let’s go.” That was it. There was no explanation, nor apology. Nothing. But the coldness in his eyes had stolen every question from her mouth anyway. The car suddenly jerked slightly as Dashiell stopped at a red light, pulling Reign from her thoughts. She blinked slowly and glanced at him again. He knew she was staring this time. She could tell. But he didn’t turn. He didn’t even acknowledge her. He just kept staring ahead through the windshield, his expression unreadable, and for some weird reason, it hurt Reign, but it got pushed aside when the red traffic light shone faintly on his face, throwing shadows across his sharp features. God. Even now, he looked so tense. Reign looked down at her hands. She wanted to say something. Anything really, but what exactly could she say?
