Chapter 4 - Best Friends!

Clara and Dan have arrived at their usual eat-out which is a Chinese roadside restaurant and the food is delicious at a reasonable price.
The owner of the shop, Mr. Xi recognized them and greets "Hi, Cia and Dan"
"Hello, Mr. Xi" Clara and Dan greeted back
"So, As usual?" Mr. Xin replied
"Yes" Dan replies
In a few minutes of time, their dishes have been served. It consists of Dumplings filled with shrimp meat which is Clara favorite and a bowl of Lamian (some type of noodles dish) for Dan
Dan picks up the chopsticks and quietly eats his dish while eyeing Clara who happily eats her Shrimp dumplings without any thoughts.
"Clara.." Dan calls her while finishing off his dish (He calls her Cia during work hours and Clara after work)
"Hmm..?" Clara responds while picking up the last dumpling from the plate
"....your still angry?" Dan asks while eyeing her
"Yep... But if you buy me two plates of these" she says while lifting up the last dumpling "then I may not"
Dan sighs and shook his head 'this Gulton' he gestures Mr. Xi to come, orders two plates of shrimp dumplings and after a few minutes they got served
"Thanks for the food!" Clara says happily and eats her food.
After finishing their dinner, Dan pays for the food and both leave the restaurant
"Now I believe you're not angry anymore, right?" Dan asks again
"Hehe.. did I ever said I was angry?" Clara replies while giggling
Dan couldn't understand what she meant 'not angry? What does that suppose to mean?' then a sudden realization clicked in and he glares at Clara who is still giggling "You! Gulton, you did all this so that I can treat you?!"
"Oops, got found out!" Clara chuckles and glances at Dan who is fuming out of anger
"Hehehe. it's not like I wasn't angry at first. it's just that I got used to it and the way you handled it made me happy as well. So, thank you for finding out the truth without asking me and helping me out" Clara honestly says while smiling
"i***t, do you think I will not be able to identify your work" Dan says while flicking her forehead "and no need to thank me, what are friends for?" Dan responds while giving out a smile
"Ouch, what was that for and I'm not an i***t!" Clara says while rubbing her forehead and puffs her cheeks
"Yeah, yeah you're not" Dan chuckles
"I'm not going to drive you home since it's getting late and Pa might be worried about me. So, bye and good night" Clara says while giving a quick hug and walks away
"Ok, good night" Dan replies while waving at her
Clara was about to enter her car but got interrupted by her phone ring, she glances at the caller ID and lifts the call "Hello, Pa"
"Where are you, Clara? It's already past eleven" Mr. Miller asks from another line
"Sorry, Pa. Got delayed at work" Clara replies
"Have you already eaten?" Mr. Miller asks
"Yes, Pa. Dan treated me for dinner and I'm on my way home"
"Okay and drive safely," Mr. Miller says
"Okay, Pa" Clara replies while hanging up and drive her way home

Mr. Miller was in his study while going through work-related documents. After finishing off the work he thought of what'll happen tomorrow.
'Will he take up my offer? If not I have to think of another way to let me take it. Only tomorrow is going to decide who's fate is going to change' he sighs while looking at the time and realizes that Clara isn't home yet.
'Where is she? What could have made her be this late?' thinking this he calls Clara
