Daisy woke up to the sound of her alarm blaring in her ears. She robbed her eyes while putting off the alarm. It was currently 6:00 am, and she had woken up that few hours to her interview to go for her morning jogs. She doesn’t like to miss it as it helps her keep fit and in check. She sat up from the bed and glanced around her room. The previous day was spent unpacking and arranging her belongings in her new place, and it was starting to feel a lot like home. As she got out of bed, she went into her bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face, and quickly put on her jogging outfit and went out for a quick jog. The streetlights illuminated the whole place, so it was easy for her to navigate her part even if she didn’t jog too far, as she wasn’t still familiar with the area. After running around for 2 hours, she finally got home by 8am and started preparing for her interview that was to begin by 12. She quickly showered and was dressed in fine brown office pants, a white shirt which she paired with red stiletto heels and made her hair into a sleek ponytail. She applied minimal makeup with a red lipstick that she loves to use. When she was done, she walked into the kitchen to make a quick breakfast. She fried the eggs and toasted the bread. She had that with a cup of coffee and was ready for the day. Her time was 10:30, and she rushed out, not wanting to be late. Luckily for her Thomas Legacy, the hotel wasn’t too far from her new place. She quickly hailed a cab and was there in 10 mins. Daisy stood outside the office building smoothing out her outfit and taking a deep breath. She was nervous but tried hard not to show it. She had been preparing for this moment for a week and was determined to make a good impression. She walked into the building and was awed by it magnificent appearance. Everybody was busy with one thing or the other and moving around hurriedly. She didn’t let herself get start stricken for too long, so she didn’t get there late. She got into an elevator to the top floor where the meeting was to be held. As she stepped out of the elevator, she was greeted by the receptionist who showed her to the conference room. Thankfully, she made it in time before her interviewers. Daisy took a seat and waited for the interviewer to arrive.A few minutes later, Mrs Johnson, the HR manager, walked in with a warm smile . “ Hello Daisy, thank you for coming in today. You’re quite early, which is a good start . We’ll be discussing your qualifications and experience, and I’ll also introduce you to our CEO, Mr George Thomas. Just then the door burst open and a tall gruff-looking man walked in.” Let’s get this started,” he said, his eyes scanning the room. “ I’m George Thomas and you must be Daisy Smith.” Daisy stood up feeling intimidated by George’s gruff demeanor.” Yes, nice to meet you mr Thomas”, she said while extending her hand. He barely acknowledged her handshake. He was with a beautiful, smartly dressed woman who introduced herself as Anna, his current personal assistant. Without hesitation, “Let’s get down to business”, George said , his eyes narrowing as he glanced down at her resume. “ Tell me, Ms Smith, what makes you think you’re qualified for this position.” Daisy took deep breathes and launched into a well-prepared speech.” With my degree in hospitality management and my experience in this business, I believe I have a strong foundation to excel in this role. "I also have strong communication and problem-solving skills, which I believe will be a valuable asset to your team. "I’m also a fast learner and open to learning new things that can help in the development and growth of the company. “ She had avoided eye contact with him from the beginning of the meeting but when she finally decides to glance his way, she caught him staring intensely at her. She felt sparks in her body but decided to brush it off as nerves. George raised an eyebrow and, with a voice that could make any girl's panties get wet, he spoke,” That’s a good start, but can you give me an example of a time when you handled a difficult customer?” Daisy had worked in a hotel for a short while, so she wasn’t lying when she said she had experience in this line of work.So she thought for a moment before responding,” In my previous role,I had a customer who was unhappy with their room assignment. They were frustrated and demanded to speak with my manager. I listened to their concerns and empathized with their situation. I offered to upgrade their room and provide a complimentary service to make up for their inconvenience. The customer ended up leaving satisfied and my manager praised me for handling the situation professionally.” Mrs Johnson nodded, making a note on her pad,” That’s great problem-solving skills Daisy, Mr Thomas, do you have any more questions ?” George leaned back in his chair ,his expression still skeptical and unconvincing. “Yes, I do.how would you handle a situation where the guest is requesting special accommodation which may not be feasible? “ Daisy thought quickly: “I would listen to the guest's requests and try to understand their needs. I would then explain our policies and procedures in a clear and respectful manner while also offering alternative solutions that might meet their needs. My goal would be to find a solution that balances guests' expectations with the hotel’s capabilities. George nodded slightly ,a hint of approval in his expression. “ Good answer, Ms Smith ,can you tell me about a time when you had to work under pressure to meet a tight deadline?” Daisy thought back to her previous job. “In my previous job, I was tasked to organize a large corporate event where clients had specific requirements with a tight deadline. I worked closely with the team to make sure that everything was under , and we were able to exceed the clients' expectations.” George leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. “ I see, and how do you handle stress and pressure in a work environment"? Daisy smiled. “ I believe that stress and pressure are part of any job. To handle it, I prioritize my tasks, focus on the more important ones first and refuel during breaks to recharge. "I also believe in communicating openly with my team and manager to ensure everyone is aware of any challenges I’m facing." As the interview came to an end, Daisy felt a sense of relief and accomplishment. She answered their questions confidently. Now all she could do was wait and see if she’d get the job. “Thank you, Ms. Smith”, George said, standing up, "We’ll be in touch soon to let you know our decision". Daisy stood up feeling a sense of hope. “Thank you, Mr Thomas, I really appreciate the opportunity to be interviewed for this position.” As she turned to leave, George’s voice stopped her. “ Ms Smith " “Yes”, Daisy turned to face him. “I think we’ll be in touch sooner than you think”, George said, his eyes glistening with an unreadable expression. Daisy’s heart skipped a bit as she wondered what he meant. Was it a good sign or was it a warning? She smiled and nodded, but as she left the building she couldn’t shake the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn’t imagine.
