Chapter 5

Olivia POV

Few minutes later, the door swung open with a soft creak. “Miss Olivia, my boss, the CEO will like to see you,” Axel said.

I turned to follow him but then I saw Emily coming towards us.

“Please, I'll like to talk to my secretary, Emily for a moment” I said to Axel. He nodded and stepped back, his face as serious as always.

“Olivia what's happening? Where are you going? Did we get the proposal? Did we..? She was firing off questions one after the other but I cut her off.

“Not now, Emily,” I said in a serious voice.

“I'll tell you later, but for now I'm going to see the CEO” I said.

“Okay I'll wait for you here” Emily said as she sat down.

“Yes please, I will not stay too long” I said as I turned to face Axel. “Let's go”.

I nodded and he led me to the CEO’s office. Axel's expression showed no emotion as we walked through the quiet halls.

Every step we took I felt more nervous, I had a lot of thoughts going on in my head but I tried to remain calm and composed.

My heart was beating fast, but I didn't let my fear show. I kept my expression steady and walked steadily, even though I was scared inside.

Axel's phone rang, breaking the silence. He answered with a brief “Yes?” and listened to the caller.

He only said “Okay” before hanging up. Then he stopped and pointed his fingers towards an empty office.

“Go in, the CEO will be with you shortly” he said and walked away without turning back, leaving me to wait in the room.

I walked into the empty office and was really surprised by how big and fancy it was.

The walls had beautiful paintings by my favorite artist, Picasso, and the table in the middle of the room was really sleek and shiny.

The office looked like a luxurious space, with everything carefully arranged. I was admiring the office when I heard a soft voice behind me.

“Hi, Please who are you?”

I turned and saw a short guy, dressed in a white and black suit, his dark hair was combed back.

He had documents in his hands as he walked towards me.

“Hi, I'm Olivia…” I got interrupted by the man I met a few minutes ago in the conference room.

“Alex, where have you been? He asked angrily. “How can you be so incompetent and slow?” He said in a harsh tone.

Alex looked so scared and apologized, stuttering his words.

“I-I’m s-sorry sir…I will not do this again” he said in a shaky voice.

I watched the scene, wondering what was happening and why this man was so angry.

“Don't apologize to me,” he said angrily.

“Next time, you'll be fired”.

Alex looked scared and said sorry again. He dropped the documents on the desk and quickly left the office, looking defeated.

“I'm Marcus” he said, sitting down in the chair and putting his feet on the desk.

I stood up straight and said, “I'm here to see the CEO”.

Marcus smiled slyly and said, “Oh yeah, I called you here for a business deal”.

I said firmly, “ I just want to see the CEO, nothing else. Please tell him I'm waiting”.

I was wondering who this rude guy was and why he was acting like he was in charge.

“I am Marcus, the CEO of Eclipse Corporation and like I said earlier I have a business deal for you if you're interested” he said.

I was shocked and my eyes widened in surprise. I couldn't believe what I heard.

“CEO?”I said out loud without realizing it. I was thinking “What? No way!” but it came out of mouth before I could stop it.

I was confused and couldn't understand how this rude and arrogant guy, could be the boss.

He stood up, took off his tie, and undid his shirt exposing a part of his chest.

He walked towards me, and I kept moving back until I hit the wall and I couldn't go any further.

He was really close, his chest touching mine, and I saw a butterfly tattoo that looked familiar.

“Do you remember that night or are you just pretending to forget?” he asked, staring at me intensely.

Suddenly the memories of that fateful night came flooding back,

The stranger at the bar, getting drunk and what we did. I felt so embarrassed and lowered my head down.

“Is this some kind of trap?” he asked.

“You knew me all along, didn't you? You came up to me, got me drunk and took advantage of me. Now you're here acting like you don't know me. It's all been a plan, hasn't it? He said it in a mean tone.

“What are you talking about?” I stammered, in a shaky voice.

“What plan? What could I possibly gain from this?” I asked, my eyes welling up with tears, my vision blurring as I struggled to understand the accusations laid against me.

But he cut me off, “Spare me this drama, I'm not buying it” he said in a harsh tone.

“You've been playing me from the start, and I know it”.

He walked over to his desk, grabbed a document and forcefully shoved it into my hands.

“Here, take this” he said.

I was really confused, my mind a jumble of thoughts and emotions as I stared blankly at the documents in my hands.

My thoughts were disorganized as I struggled to make sense of the sudden turn of events.

“What is this?” I asked, but before I could even start to understand it, he snapped at me.

“Have you gone blind? Or can't you read anymore?” his words cut deep, with a nasty look on his face.

I opened the documents and was shocked at what I saw.

I hesitated for a moment, then looked inside and my eyes widened in surprise. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

It was like a punch to the gut.
