6:15 PM. West District Scrap Yard.
Chloe was clinging to Damon, playfully begging him to take a walk with her.
Her phone buzzed with a text message. It was the hitman's order: the kill was complete. Lena was dead.
A flash of delight crossed Chloe's face, quickly replaced by a panicked look as she turned to Damon. "Damon, a friend just told me that Lena went to the scrap yard alone, and there are several thugs following her—they look like underground mobsters. What if something happens to her? We have to go find her!"
"What!"
Damon shot to his feet so abruptly that Chloe nearly stumbled.
"Send me the address. I'll bring people right away." Damon's tone was grave. Chloe nodded, but a vicious smile flickered in her eyes.
Damon was this worried about that b***h?
No matter. By the time Damon got there, all that would be left for him was to collect Lena's corpse.
At the scrap yard.
Damon's car pulled up. Chloe hurried out, feigning panic as she rushed forward.
Hatred gleamed deep in her eyes, but her face was the picture of concern. She sprinted to the center of the open area, raising her voice deliberately so everyone nearby could hear: "Lena! Are you okay? Damon and I came to find you! Come out!"
Chloe lifted the hem of her skirt and ran, her face twisted in anxiety, tears even welling up in her eyes at just the right moment.
But the moment she stepped through the entrance of the abandoned scrapyard, the smug smile froze on her face.
There, leaning coolly against her own motorcycle, was Lena, casually smoking a cigarette.
The lead hitman, a bald, hulking brute, was respectfully holding out a lighter to light Lena's cigarette for her.
And kneeling on the ground at Lena's feet were all of the mobster hitmen Chloe had hired.
Lena caught sight of Chloe approaching.
A cold arc curved at the corner of her lips as she spoke slowly, "Chloe. You finally came. I've been waiting for you for a long time."
