5 It was Tuesday morning. Jessie’s car was already in her parking spot when I pulled in. The lift made me nervous. I took the stairs now whenever I could, but I was too tired to walk up all those flights. Sleep was a luxury I hadn’t enjoyed lately. The lift doors opened slowly.
