10 Steven, Tanya’s elder son of four, played in the garden with the two overweight fox terriers when I arrived home. I drove through the gate and pressed the button on my remote to close it behind me. Steven was an odd child. According to his nursery school teacher, he didn’t play with the other children. He preferred playing on his own in a corner. As I drove up the driveway, he played like any other four-year-old would. Running around, chasing the dogs and making a lot of noise. It took me a while to realise that something wasn’t right with the picture in front of me. I stopped in the middle of the driveway and watched Steven play. It was a rare sight.
