Avery's POV The silence in the room was like a thick, heavy thing. I stared at Beatrice, my heart fluttering like a panicked bird trapped in my ribs. How did she even remember Leo? Normally Beatrice's hangovers are the worst, and she normally does not remember a thing. What do I say? I cannot let her think Leo was here last night. I would lose him as my master, and Mum could chase him out of the house. Then I would really have to choose between telling Leo the truth he is oblivious to, or stay loyal to my mum and my sisters.
