When we reached the hotel lobby, the guide herded us into a lounge area and asked everyone to introduce themselves while the staff sorted out keys.
The couples went first, warm and chatty, talking about their retirement trips. The solo woman introduced herself as Chloe, a travel blogger. Then it was him—the man with the too-familiar face.
