What?! She is joking, right? Compete for the Queen seat! What a b***h she is to have such big dreams! Don't blame the girl too much, His Royal Majesty is too good looking and any unruly thing will covet a place next to him. Giggles and words of mockery went all about the crowd. I had thought Laelia might come up with something different that could help her in getting released instead she announced she had come here in order to compete for the queen position. Good work Laelia Keanu, the Minister for Justice cleared his throat loud enough to silence the murmurings of the crowd. He took a subtle glance at me wondering if maybe I wanted to take over and give my judgment. But my indifference made him realize how uninterested I was, at least I needed to show just the perfect amount of interest in her case. My lash-out yesterday when I had seen her bruises had already caused rumors around the castle. They wondered if I had known her before now and if that was why she could walk into my kingdom without fear. If only they knew I was just as curious as they were then... "The Cursed lady named Laelia had, without doubt, committed a crime, she had trespassed into our kingdom in secret. But her reason for visiting can't be ignored either. The competition for Queenship wasn't limited to any race only. Hence, putting this into consideration, I propose the lady Laelia should be sent out of the kingdom and only allowed back in after she has gone through the proper procedure which will permit her to compete" oh the ridiculous wish of theirs. They made it sound as though they were doing me a favor by allowing my decree to hold. They dared to try to make a deal with me, every candidate must be examined by a panel, a panel led by my stepmother! "Release her" I ordered while rising. There it was again, that gaze... The one that seems as though it knew something I knew nothing about. "Yes, Your Majesty" Keanu answered bowing in respect. As we got away from the crowd, Badurud walked to my side, "You can't possibly do that to her. She trusted you and came over and maybe..." He stopped his words as he gave the guards a look which made them hurriedly take fifteen steps away from us. "And you think I do not know that. Adalberht or someone else might send her to her death, please keep her safe till I return from my trip" I pleaded. Helping her out publicly would have only added more to her plight than helping her! "I promise" he nodded and left us. "I believe I heard your journey got canceled" Acacius questioned. Canceled! Who would dare cancel a trip I haven't canceled? "I will be leaving for Black Krest as soon as the weather clears up" instinctively my gaze fell on the cloud. I envied it, the ability to cause a storm while looking so peaceful and beautiful was worth my envy. "Prepare my canvas" the urge to paint suddenly consumed me as I wished to put my feelings as I looked up at the sky into painting. Aldegar and the weather forecasters had been right, the storm was preventing me from flying to Mason. It was his first year birthday and I truly wanted to be there with him. His fighting spirit was something I admired a whole lot and that made me develop some respect for the young Alpha. Only a few people have earned my respect all my life! The painting came out great. As I stood there admiring it, a thought came to me. "Wrap it up" I told Aldegar. I will gift Mason with it. Will he like it? His dad has a good eye for art, I don't know much about Hazel though, but I guessed she liked art too. "Yes, Your Majesty". Two hours later, I was off to Black Krest. The flight was shockingly peaceful. I had expected turbulence along the way but nothing happened. "Where did you first meet her" Acacius had volunteered to drive. So it was just us. "In Grenada. I was out sightseeing one day when she walked past me... I had just arrived in the southeastern part of the Island. The Anse beach filled with beautiful white sand had been one of my favorite places to visit here in Grenada. I had different paintings of it. Its golden sand and turquoise water always give the painting a beautiful finish. This time though, I didn't go visiting to paint, I needed an escape... When the evening came, I decided to go for a walk around the beach. With a can of beer in hand, I was ready to enjoy the serenity of the place when she walked past me. I remember standing there in shock, frozen in place. It wasn't because my destined turned out to be a cursed, I just thought, I guess I had believed I wouldn't have one. Her dark umber colored eyes stared back at me. I couldn't figure out her thoughts, and that drew me more, I wasn't just enchanted by her but also curious. A whiff of her made me intoxicated. All this while, neither of us spoke to the other. Her gaze left mine, traveling down to my nose and then lips before moving back to my eyes. Her eyes were big and frighteningly beautiful I watched her round lips move and it took me a while to register what she had just said. "Hello" my voice came out deeper than usual, she had looked amused for a short while before her neutral expression came back on. "So how does this go. Do I get rejected right here or do we play around for a while first?" Rejected?! Why would I? "Do you wish to reject me?" I couldn't understand why she would want to. Physical, emotional, and financial stability... she will get it all. So why would my destined talk of rejection a few minutes after we met? She stared hard at me before sighing "do you seriously not know why we can't be together?" Can't be together! Damn it, mother nature thought of her as my perfect fit and destined us together. If we couldn't be together, then who can I be with?! "No, you tell me why" Her race...it couldn't be because of her race right. "I see you figured it out" can she hear my thoughts? I heard they could listen to one's thoughts. Was she listening? If she was, she wouldn't be here thinking I will reject her! "Can you hear my thoughts?" I asked. How unfair if she can and I couldn't. But I guess that will make it easier right, things I can't explain will be understood by her! "Surprisingly I can't" she seemed confused about that too and I nodded. Not knowing whether to be relieved or curious as to why "I guess there are races whose thought you can't hear" she said nothing so I continued. "I am not going to reject you because you are a cursed. Not only are you my mate but you are a beautiful female who I would love to be by my side and possibly whose gene my kids should get too. So..." s**t I don't know her name yet "Euphranor" "Tristan!" Acacius' voice jolted me out of my thoughts. "You suddenly went quiet," he told me "Sorry about that. I got lost in my thoughts" I answered with a chuckle. "It must have been a good remembrance seeing how you had a smile on all through. We are almost at the Alpha's house" he told me and I nodded looking out the window. They were great memories indeed yet scary, it hunts me down every single time. I noticed a few changes had occurred in the pack compared to the last time I visited. Good going Maverick. The scattered balloons, napkins, party hats, and weirdly arranged seats confirmed a party was indeed held here. "I will wait here" for some odd reason, the guys never liked relating with werewolves. "Make yourself comfortable. I will be fine here" I told him as I walked past him. I could hear him designating the others on their task. I noticed the guys were all gathered around drinking and being loud. Their carefree attitude wasn't surprising. I had always known Maverick will end up befriending everybody. He was that easy-going. He got me to be his friend too... "How long do you intend to stand there?" He asked as he turned to me with a huge grin on his face. "For as long as I can until I find whom I am looking for" I answered back. Chuckling "well then one is asleep and the other is upstairs having some girl's time" I nodded. "I guess I will be seeing Mason tomorrow" Mav pulled me into a hug. It feels warm "How have you been?" He questioned as he sized me up "Handsome and busy. Do you know how hard it is to stay charming everyday" I asked smiling "Well no one can tell you how hard that is except for me. And I must say it is hard work" we heard the guys snickering "Hey guys" coming around had made us a bit civil to each other "Your Majesty, it is an honor having you here with us" I smiled at Lucas. He is always the serious type "Thank you Lucas" he nodded going back to his game. "So, you want to join us, or do you prefer joining the ladies upstairs?" Mav asked "The ladies' talk will of course be more fun. I should go join them" I heard him laugh behind me as I head upstairs to go say hi
