Nora smiled brightly, her eyes glistening with joy as she pulled Dr. Sarah into a hug. “Thank you so much, Doctor! I can’t wait to tell my husband—and my best friend!”
Dr. Sarah returned the hug warmly. “You should also take care of yourself and the baby, Mrs. Williams. And please, stay away from stress. You’re already three months pregnant.”
Nora blinked in surprise. “Three months? Ohh… no wonder. This is the third time I’ve missed my period this year, but my mind didn’t even went there.” She laughed softly, placing a hand gently over her belly.
Dr. Sarah handed her the medical file. “Here’s your report. Everything looks good, but come in for your next check-up in a few weeks, okay?”
Nora nodded eagerly. “Of course! Thank you, Doctor Sarah. You’ve made my day!”
With the report clutched to her chest, Nora stepped out of the hospital, her guards escorting her to the waiting car. She could barely contain her excitement. Her face was glowing, her heart full—she was finally going to be a mother.
All through the ride back to the estate, she smiled to herself, thinking about how Carson would react. He’s going to be so happy. And Tina too... she’ll cry when she hears it!
As the car pulled up to the gate, the guards rushed forward to open it. She stepped out, heels clicking excitedly on the marble floor.
“Carson!” she called as she entered. “Carson, baby! You won’t believe—”
She stopped dead in her tracks.
Her footsteps slowed… then froze completely as she reached the doorway of their bedroom.
Her heart dropped.
There—on their marital bed—was Carson. Naked. With Tina.
Tangled together.
Moaning.
Nora’s mouth parted in disbelief. The pregnancy report slipped from her hand and floated to the floor.
Her legs trembled. Her breathing turned ragged. Tears welled up instantly, blurring her vision as the sound of her heartbeat thundered in her ears.
“C-Carson…” Her voice cracked. “What is this?”
Carson jumped off the bed, panic flashing across his face. “Nora! Wait—it’s not what it looks like!”
But it was exactly what it looked like.
Tina didn’t flinch. She didn’t cover herself. She didn’t even pretend to be sorry.
She simply smirked, lounging lazily on the bed, her body completely exposed. “Oops.”
Nora stared at them—her husband, her best friend—in their bed.
Her lips trembled. Her whole body felt cold.
“You lied to me…” she whispered. “You said you loved me.”
Carson reached out, but she stepped back, one hand instinctively protecting her stomach.
“Nora, please,” he said, eyes wide with guilt. “Let me explain.”
“Explain what, Carson?!” Nora screamed, her voice cracked with pain as fresh tears streamed down her face. “Explain how I walked in on my husband and best friend—on our matrimonial bed?!”
Her voice echoed through the room like a thunderclap.
“And you, Tina!” Nora turned her gaze sharply. “I called you my best friend! You told me—you told me!—you could never come between me and Carson! And now this?!”
Tina rose slowly from the bed, wrapping herself casually in the brown duvet. Her expression wasn’t one of guilt—it was smug. “What did you expect, Nora?” she said coolly. “Don’t blame me. Who wouldn’t fall in love with your husband? He’s tall, sexy, powerful, and kind. Of course I wanted him.”
Nora’s eyes widened, and her breath caught in her throat.
“And let’s be honest,” Tina continued with a wicked smirk, “I’m more beautiful than you. You? You look like a bloated dumpling playing dress-up. You really thought someone like Carson would stay satisfied with you forever?”
Nora stumbled back a step, clutching her chest. Her knees nearly buckled. “I trusted you,” she whispered, voice hoarse. “I let you into my home. Into my life…”
“Don’t play the victim,” Tina snapped. “Your husband made the first move. I just... accepted it. And neither of us regret it.”
Nora slowly turned to Carson, her eyes pleading. “So... it was all a lie? Everything—your apologies, your flowers, the breakfast this morning? It was all just... fake?”
Carson sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Look, Nora, at least now you know. There’s no need to keep pretending.”
Nora staggered back and leaned against the wall. Her tears blurred everything in front of her. Her heart thudded so loudly she could barely hear his words.
“Get out,” she said weakly. “Tina, get out of my house. And don’t you ever come back.”
Tina opened her mouth to speak, but Carson held up his hand. “She’s not going anywhere.”
Nora's mouth fell open. “What…?”
“She’s staying,” Carson said coldly. “You already caught us. What’s the point in hiding it anymore?”
The finality in his voice shattered something inside her.
Her knees gave way, and she slid to the floor, breath ragged. “Carson, please… don’t do this to me. Not after everything I’ve sacrificed for you. Not after everything we’ve been through…”
Carson didn’t flinch. “What sacrifice, Nora? Sitting around in this mansion eating and getting fat every day? That’s your idea of sacrifice?”
Nora stared at him, stunned.
“You’ve done nothing for this marriage,” he continued. “I built my empire, and when it crumbled, yes—you helped. But let’s not act like I owe you the world for it. You were enjoying the wealth just like I was. So what? Now it’s 50/50?”
He scoffed. “I need a woman who matches my image. Who looks like success—not a liability.”
Nora's entire world crumbled with those words. Her hand instinctively went to her stomach, where her child—his child—was growing. But she couldn’t speak. She couldn’t even breathe.
Her heart was breaking, and all she could do was stare at the man she had once called her world.
Nora looked up, her voice trembling. "So I was just used?"
Carson’s face twisted with disgust. "Maybe. But I don’t regret choosing Tina. She’s everything a man wants. And you? Your looks irritate me—me, her, and everyone else."
He scoffed. "And thank God you haven’t given birth to my child. I don’t want a child that looks like a witch—someone everyone will mock."
Tina burst out laughing, shameless and cruel.
Nora’s heart cracked wide open.* *I’m carrying his child… I thought he’d be happy when I told him… but now? This isn’t the right time.
She bit her lip to stop herself from sobbing, then stared up at Carson and Tina, her voice low but filled with quiet rage. “You’ll regret what you’re doing to me.”
Tina rolled her eyes. “Regret? Sweetheart, the only regret here is that you stayed this long. I’m not sorry. And I’m definitely not the best friend you thought I was.”
She smirked, grabbing the brown duvet to wrap herself as she stepped off the bed.
“Can you believe it? We’ll both be staying in this house,” she said sweetly. But inside, her smile darkened. I’ll make your stay here a living hell. And soon, I’ll be the real Mrs. Williams — the one everyone respects, she thought with a wicked grin.
With a cruel smile, she gathered her clothes and turned to Carson. “Meet me in the car. Help me bring in my things.”
Carson nodded. “I’ll be right there.”
Tina strutted out of the room, victorious.
As she walked down the hallway, something caught her eye—a paper file lying on the marble floor.
Curious, she picked it up and opened it casually… then her eyes widened.
“What?!” she gasped, frozen. “She’s pregnant??”
