The Disguise of the Devil

Chapter 6

Eloise woke up when she heard the alarm went on. She turned to Leon and started waking him up.

“Leon, love, wake up,” She softly said.

“No. Can’t we just take a day off again?” Leon said in his sleepy, husky voice.

“Love, no. We can’t do that again. The Haverstons would be angry if we don’t attend that meeting today,” Eloise reminded him.

“Then can I take a day off after the meeting?” Leon bargained.

“No. Come on, get up. You’re a CEO for Pete’s sake, Leon.”

“Fine,” Leon said, finally giving up.

They both went to get ready for work although this time, Eloise was in charge of the kitchen since Leon needs the shower to wake him up. Eloise got some spam and eggs to fry. She also saw that she can make pancakes so she got the ingredients and started cooking.

Right after she finished cooking, Leon went down and immediately hugged her back.

“What’s this? You’re being sweet again,” Eloise teased him.

“I’m always sweet, love.” He lovingly whispered directly at her ears.

Eloise felt her cheeks burn so she lightly hit his arm. He kissed her cheek before letting her go and sat on one of the chairs. They started eating their breakfast in peace and after eating, Eloise went up to take a bath. After that, she wore the clothes that she prepared beforehand and got down to meet Leon.

“Ready to go?” Leon asked her.

She nodded and Leon took her hand in his.

They walked out of the mansion and into one of his cars. He opened the door for her and then helped her with her seatbelt before going into his own seat. They drove off to his company which is a bit far from the house.

“Can’t you drop me off a block away from the company?” She suddenly asked him while they got closer.

“Why?”

“I’m supposed to be your assistant, right?” She stated, looking over at him.

“So?” Leon asked as if it was nothing,

“Assistants don’t get to ride with the boss, Leon.”

“But you’re not just some assistant, Eloise,” He said, his tone scary serious.

But despite the scary tone, Eloise didn’t flinch or even felt a little scared.

“I know, but they don’t know that. What would they say? That I seduced the boss right after I was hired? Or when I was being interviewed?” She questioned.

“I don’t care about what other people think, love. If they don’t get that you’re special to me, then I’ll let them know that. I’m ready to tell the world that. Can’t you just let us be normal again?” He begged her.

“Leon… love… you know how the world works now. It’s not like that then. People are judgmental. People would make up conclusions, especially when they don’t know the whole story. They would make up things to fill in the gap. Can’t you understand that?” Eloise said, feeling frustrated that they were arguing with this matter.

Leon stopped the car on the side of the road and faced her.

“No, Eloise. This is the time that I tell the whole world who you are. You are my wife, my love, my everything. And if people don’t accept that, then who cares? They can’t tell me what to do. They can’t stop me. They don’t matter so why do they matter for you?” Leon asked her, he touched her face lightly and stared at her eyes. “Don’t let them stop you, love. Don’t let them destroy us, alright?” He said to her with a soft voice.

Eloise felt a tear rolled down her cheeks and Leon was quick to wipe it off for her.

“I’m sorry. I was just scared that I’d ruin your reputation,” She said.

“What reputation? The heartless CEO? Or that reputation that I where I’m horrible to my assistants? Those are nothing. It’s alright, love. No need to feel sorry for it. Just please, never think of them when you’re deciding for your life. This is yours, not theirs. Remember that.”

Eloise nodded and smiled at him.

“I love you,” She whispered, enough for him to hear.

“I love you too, love. Now let’s show that to the world,” Leon said and she just nodded.

He started driving again until they arrived at the entrance of the company where people are going in and out. Media are also around like every day to take a peek at the mysterious CEO that hid from the cameras or just something that they could write an article about.  

“Ready, love?” He asked her.

“Yes,” Eloise said and smiled.

She was ready. Ready to tell the world that she loves this man. She knows that she just met him in this life recently and this is all new to her. Really new. Because, back then, she was just a normal person. She worked in a café as a waitress at night. She studies at day. She pays her own rent. She was alone most of the time with absolutely no friends. No one to love her.

But now, Leon was here. She was with someone. Someone who cares for her fights for her and takes care of her. Above all, she was with someone who loved her. She can feel it. It was a very intense love, a longing love. And even though she never felt love before, she knows what she feels and sees from him is the same as hers. It was the soul and heart inside her. It was speaking to her body and it was ready to listen to it no matter what, no matter what consequence it may bring.

Leon got out of his car and the media went crazy. He went to her side and opened the door for her. He helped her out and when she successfully did, that’s when flashes started. Cameras were everywhere and everyone, except for the media, gaped at them.

“Excuse me, sir. Are you the CEO of the Cress Enterprises that really values his privacy?” One asked.

“Why are you hiding from the cameras, Mr. Cress?”

“Who is with you, Mr. Cress? Is that your wife, girlfriend, or fling?”

“We heard you have a new assistant, is this her?”

“Why didn’t you go to work yesterday, Mr. Cress?”

“If she is your assistant, Mr. Cress, then what was she doing with you? Why is she riding with you?”

The securities finally got their senses back and immediately helped their boss with the media. They didn’t know why the boss suddenly entered at the very entrance of the building instead of his private entrance. Although they have a lot of questions on their head, they didn’t dare voice them out in fear of losing their job.

The securities were having a really hard time stopping the reporters as more of them come in and boy can they really push.

Leon saw that and decided to speak about it.

“Everyone, please stop before you hurt my woman. Yes, I am Leon Austin Cress and I am the CEO of this company. This woman beside me is my wife, my love, and my everything so if you don’t have any more questions, then please stay back before I file a lawsuit against you all.” He said with his scary voice which made everyone stop and give way for them.
