Eloise was feeling giddy inside because of what he said. She should have been used to that but heck. This love is really opening up more emotions she had yet to discover.
“Are you alright? None of the hurt you, right?” He asked when they finally got inside the company.
Everybody was staring at them so Eloise felt embarrassed at the same time, a little giddy.
“I’m fine. None of them got close to me anyway,” Eloise answered her with a voice loud enough for him to hear.
“That’s good. I’m sorry about that,” He said, looking relieved.
“It’s not your fault, and hey, at least we let the world know about us now. I’m sure the news is spread wide already,” Eloise jokes.
“Really? That’s great then.”
They both smiled at each other and then walked to the elevator hand in hand.
Feeling and receiving love is the best feeling in the world.
Lunch came and since Leon was having a lunch meeting with the Haverstons without her, she decided that she should make friends.
She got down and looked for the kind girl in the reception.
“Hi,” She greeted her.
“O-oh. H-hi me?” She asked, a little flustered that the boss’s wife was talking to her.
“Yes, you.”
“H-hi,” She timidly greeted back.
Eloise laughed at her and said, “Please be casual around me,” She said with a warm smile.
“But you’re Mr. Cress’s wife,” She pointed out.
“Not really his wife yet. Just his girlfriend and his personal assistant,” Eloise informed her.
“Really?”
“Yep. You don’t see any rings, right?” Eloise asked as she shows her hands.
“Oh, yeah. How did you guys meet?” She asked her, finally feeling light.
“It’s a long story,” Eloise reasoned out because truthfully, she doesn’t know how to answer that.
It’s not like she could just be like, “Oh, we met in our past lives and since then our hearts have been connected. He’s also a demon so he doesn’t really die. He just waits for me and then I die and the process starts again.” That would sound absolutely unbelievable for other people. Besides, it’s not like it matters. What really matters is that they both love each other. Simple as that.
They both talked for a few minutes and decided to eat lunch. While eating, they tried to get to know each other and found out that they have a lot in common. By the end of lunch, Eloise finally has her first friend, Alena Vasilieva.
She felt like going to the bathroom for a bit so she did.
“I can’t believe the CEO is that handsome,” One of the girls who just came in said.
“I know. If I had known, I would have seduced him first, not like that lowlife.”
“I know. They don’t even look good together. Mr. Cress is like a God while that girl looks just like a peasant.”
A God? Who are they kidding?
“It’s alright. We can just steal him away from that girl. I heard she’s not his wife anyway. They’re not yet married.”
“What? But that’s what he said just a while ago in front of the press.”
“Did you see rings around their fingers? I saw the gold ring from Mr. Cress but the girl didn’t even have a single piece of jewelry on her body. And that dress she’s in? I bet that’s just from a thrift shop or a hand-down. Maybe even stolen,” The other one said and they both laughed.
That’s it. Eloise was mad but she was still trying to look calm.
She got out of the cubicle and smiled at the two. They immediately paled at the sight of her and their eyes widened.
“Hi, I heard you two talking about me,” She calmly told them with a smile. “You know, badmouthing someone could lead to karma. You both know what karma is? Karma is when an action has a result, a cause, and an effect. Since badmouthing someone is bad, I guess your karma would be horrible. I’m sorry, it’s your actions against you, right?” She told them both.
She smiled at them for the last time before leaving.
She really didn’t care much about what they said about her, especially after what Leon told her a while ago. She just really hates it when people badmouth someone. She knows too many cases of people committing self-harm or worse, suicide just because of it. People are aware of what it could affect others, but still, they continue to do it.
There are a lot of things that need to be addressed in the world in terms of those things but she’s not in the position for that. She’s also not the person perfect for that position. She’s living with the devil who created all of these bad things so people would find it ironic for her to do that.
She went back to Leon’s office and continued her work. Even though Leon dotes on her, she still insisted to work for him. He was a busy man despite being a demon prince so a helping hand would be greatly appreciated for him.
“Hey, love,” Leon said to get her attention.
Eloise looked up and saw Leon staring at her while leaning on her table.
“Hey. I didn’t even hear you come in.”
“You were too engrossed in what you were doing. Love, are you sure that you’re fine with this? I could just get someone to do your job, you don’t have to work.”
“Then what would I do? Just sulk in one corner and watch you work for the both of us? I can’t even do the house chores when you’re only allowing me to cook for you. I can’t just sit and do nothing.”
“Well, that’s better than you feeling stressed about these petty things. You know that we can just focus on ourselves. I could just get someone to do our work.”
“Then how would we earn money?”
“Earning money is really not that important, love. I have lots of money. I’ve already worked for years. You seem to keep forgetting that I’m a demon prince who’s living for more than a thousand years.”
“But still, I’m a human, Leon. And as a human, it feels good that you’re earning money from hard work not just because someone did the work for you.”
Leon sighed and smiled at her, “You’re really different from them.”
“I should be. You wouldn’t have loved me if I’m like everyone else.”
“No. I would still love you even if you are,” He sweetly said which made Eloise rolled her eyes at him.
“Go back to work, Mr. CEO,” Eloise ordered him.
He laughed and walked towards his table which is just next to hers.
Yesterday, when they were enjoying their day off, Leon sent someone to redecorate his office so that her table would be right next to his. This way, working for hours wouldn’t seem so bad. She’s just beside him anyway, what’s there to worry about?
