“Did you hear? The two girls from accounting were fired. It turns out, they were stealing money from the company,” One girl from the table next to us said.
The other two girls with her gasped and their eyes widened.
“Who would dare steal from such a company?” Another one said.
“How much did they steal?” The other one asked.
“I think it was about 20,000.”
“Gosh, people just gossip whatever and whenever they want, huh?” Alena said getting pretty irritated.
“Yeah, but who knew someone would have the courage to steal from this company,” Eloise said shaking her head.
“Let’s not talk about it. I’m already sick of hearing it all day.”
Would someone really try to steal in this company, especially when Leon is around?
Eloise was sure that Leon would know it immediately if someone would try and steal from him. He can smell it so he would have prevented this to happen to avoid issues. So that the company would have a good image.
But why? Why didn’t he? Is it because they only got blinded by the money, but were actually not that vile?
“I heard it was Ms. Kinsley who caught them stealing,” The other girl from another table said.
“Yeah, and I heard they are now paying their sins in jail. Imagine, just for 20,000, they’re already in jail. It’s practically just coins for the company.”
“But, if they weren’t caught this early, there is a chance that more and more could be stolen.”
That’s right. It would have affected the company if they weren’t caught at the right time.
Eloise was too occupied while going back to Leon’s office. Leon had a meeting with Ms. Kinsley that lasted almost until lunch break was over. In that case, Leon would have to skip his lunch but it doesn’t really matter since he doesn’t get hungry.
But when Eloise arrived at the door of his office, she heard them talking about the robbery that occurred.
“Did you do as I said?” Leon asked with a cold voice.
Eloise rarely hears that tone of Leon. She only hears it when other people are around but when they were just alone, he would change it quickly.
“Yes, I did. I put a spell on the girls and made them steal. I also acted like I caught them in the act and immediately called the police,” Ms. Kinsley said with a voice almost as cold as Leon’s.
“That’s good. No one bullies my wife. Check if there’s someone else badmouthing or planning something bad to her,” Leon ordered.
“I will,” Ms. Kinsley immediately said.
“Good. You are now dismissed.”
Eloise heard her heart bounced.
She bit her lip and looked around. “s**t. She’s gonna open the door and knows that I heard them. s**t. This is bad. Should I run? Should I make it look like I just arrived?” She said in her head.
Eloise suddenly felt something inside her that was telling her no. She has the right to know this. This was her business. She clearly told Leon last night that he should not get involved. Also, considering what he did to those poor girls, she should really be angry.
Of course, she understands the two. They were just blinded by jealousy and envy. After they saw Leon’s handsome face, they’d surely want him but because she was by his side, they couldn’t help but feel envious and jealous. People always do. They can’t help but let those emotions eat them. But in her part, instead of acting on those emotions, they should have just accepted it. Sooner or later, the emotions would vanish anyway.
When the door opened, the two were surprised to see Eloise and Leon can clearly see the anger and irritation in her eyes.
“I-I’m going. Thank you for your time, boss,” Ms. Kinsley said, clearly sensing that Leon’s wife was angry and a fight coming along.
She immediately ran towards the elevator and left them both alone.
“You were responsible for that robbery?” Eloise said, her voice turning colder than she ever did before.
Leon was shocked because he had never seen Eloise this mad before.
Shit. I messed up.
“I-I can explain, love,” He said, his voice slightly trembling because of his nervousness.
“Explain what, Leon?” She asked, her eyes looking straight at him.
Her eyes looked cold but Leon knew that she was sending daggers towards his direction.
“L-love, they were saying bad things to you. They were accusing you and you know that I don’t like that. I’m protective. I protect what’s mine and you are mine, therefore I should protect you,” Leon answered her immediately.
Eloise slowly nodded her head but her expression and her eyes stayed cold. “Yeah, and who said that what other people say doesn’t matter again, Leon? Who told me not to care about them? Who told me that they don’t matter that’s why they shouldn’t matter to me? Tell me, Leon, who told me all those things?” She said as her voice gradually increases in volume and as her expression turned from emotionless to anger.
“I-I did, love,” Leon answered, he bent his head low.
“You did. That’s right. Then why are you caring? Why does it seem like they matter, Leon? Why did you have to do something about that? You could’ve just fired them. Just take their jobs. Why did you have to frame them for the sin that they did not do? That they were forced to do?” She said, but this time, her voice was gradually decreasing in volume and her expression was solemn.
“I’m sorry, love. I just wanted to teach them a lesson. I know you might not understand, but I’m a demon, love. Sometimes I get blinded by anger and all I could think about is the worse. Actually, no. It was actually not the worse. It was still light. If you weren’t here if I wasn’t thinking about you and what you would think of me, I would have cut their tongues off. I would have tortured them for that petty little thing. I could do the unimaginable for you, love. But you can’t expect me to be kind to others. You can’t expect me not to do anything because I would do everything even if you don’t ask for it, love. That’s how crazy I am for you. I hope you understand,” Leon said.
Eloise looked away finding it hard to look at him in the eyes.
How did the tables suddenly turn? Isn’t she the one who was angry at him before?
