Chapter 28

885 Words
Isabella didn’t think they would have made it through the dinner but they had, painstakingly so. Now everyone was back at the bar having conversations. Some were laughing and having a good time but the uninvited guests were giving only Isabella simmering, angry looks. Isabella went to sit in between Dexter and Santo. “My best friend and my sister, talk about a bloody cliché Santo.” They all laughed at his words except the broody guests. “This wasn’t how it was meant to be Dex, mi amor was supposed to be happy.” Santo complained. Isabella wrapped her arms around Santo and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Who says I’m not happy mi amor?” “That’s the spirit bambina.” Nonna said, smiling at them. “So are you writing anything yet?” Santo asked Dexter. “I have an idea but nothing has come to me yet.” Dexter admitted, sighing. “Don’t worry bro, just go on one of those silent benders you always do.” Stella stated. Dexter laughed, shaking his head. “You don’t know how to keep a secret from Stella do you Harry?” Harrison grinned, shrugging his shoulders as he held Stella in his arms. “She’s my wife.” They all chuckled at Harrison’s words. Lola was so sick of this whole fake dinner, regarded all of them. “Are you all really buying this bullshit? Isabella is not even Santo’s type.” She said exasperated with this whole thing. “And let me guess Lola you are?” Isabella asked, standing up. Lola approached Isabella, smirking. “Yes I am in fact so is Brooke, it is you who isn’t and you should accept that now. f**k you’re not even pretty.” “Lola! That is quite enough!” Isabella’s dad – Victor admonished. Nonna got up and walked up to stand next to Isabella. “You should leave, all of you. Maybe my son is above not kicking you all out but this is my house. I want you spiteful, venomous women to all get out!” Nonna shouted, so sick of all these spiteful women. Maria, Lola and Brooke glared at Isabella but Santo, Dexter and Armando came infront of Isabella to block their stares and gave them the same treatment they had given Isabella. Nonna took Isabella’s hand, “Forget about those simpletons.” Sandra who had watched how Isabella had wormed her way into this family shook her head. “Isabella may I have a word with you?” Sandra commanded sternly, leaving no room for Isabella to say no. Isabella nodded and followed her mother out of the room. Once they were settled away from everyone Sandra ripped into Isabella. “Enough is enough! Stop embarrassing this family and just tell this man this relationship is a mistake.” Sandra said. Isabella didn’t look shocked, she knew her mother would always side with Lola no matter what. “No, enough is enough with you and Lola. Now I have been quiet this whole evening, with Maria, Brooke and Lola but I am tired of this. You all treat me like I’ve done something wrong! I have done nothing but date Santo! So with all respect to you mother no more of this bullshit.” Isabella yelled. “My goodness, you are delusional Isabella! Where did I go wrong with you? You are such a selfish child!” Sandra yelled back. Isabella shook her head, her mother and sister were never going to stop unless she backed away from them. She decided to remove herself from this argument but her mother had other ideas. Sandra grabbed hold of Isabella’s arm, “Leave this man, you do not deserve him!” Isabella ripped her arm away, “No, I’ve listened to you my entire life! You aren’t beautiful Isabella! You don’t matter Isabella! Your career choice will never work Isabella! You don’t belong in this family Isabella! You need to fix this now! You should never return to my house! Well no more!” Isabella screamed out in frustration. All of her emotions from this night coming out now. Victor, who had gone in search of them after he heard someone yell found his daughter and wife in a screaming match. He pulled Isabella towards him, holding her while glaring at Sandra. “Sandra how f*****g dare you!” He kissed the top of Izzy’s head, soothing her. “It’s okay baby, dad is here. I’m here Izzy.” Sandra rolled her eyes at Isabella’s theatrics. “Honestly Victor you coddle her too much.” “You should leave Sandra, our daughter needed us tonight for something special and you knew Lola would try and ruin it and I have no idea why but it stops tonight. Lola’s behaviour and yours, I will have no more of it.” He stated firmly. “Oh please what will you do?” Sandra asked sarcastically. Victor regarded the love of his life, he couldn’t believe that Isabella had been subjected to this. He was a blind man but no more. “When I get home I want you and Lola, gone! Should I find that when I return you are still on my premises I will call the police.”
